Re: Harddrive motor starts but stops

Try the 5 R's from apple first:

If that doesn't work, try putting the ipod in disk mode by first resetting the ipod and then pressing the center and play button at the same time at the apple logo. Then if itunes recognizes it, try to restore using itunes.

I Cannot disconnet my nano, it does not show the sign in which to click so that i can pull the plug from the computer

Click on "my computer or "start" then "computer". It should display a window with all the current drives. If the Nano is listed then RIGHT click it and the drop down menu should give you options. If there isn't a "safely remove" then you should be okay to just unplug it.

The computer doesn't recognize my IPOD that i've had for 2 yrs.

You should have actually not removed your iPod without giving "safely remove hardware" ..that is the problem your PC is not able to detect it..try formatting your iPod using someother computer and then try ...that should do the trick..

When i turn on my ipod it show the apple logo for about 15 seconds and then a red x appears and said go to and i have done that and did all the steps but the ipod can not be put...

listen to the ipod (hold it to you ear) as you start it up. if the hard drive spins fine (contant spinning of disk motor) you have a logic board or hard drive cable issue. if you hear an uneven, repetitive noise you have a hard drive issue . you can try to replace those compoments yourself or have a tech savy friend do it for you. there is an iPod classic repair guide. online that shows you through the steps.

I jus gotta new ipod nano 2gb, i plugged it into the comp and it shows apple sign then "do not disconnect". a auto play window opened and it appears in "my computer". i click on it and it shows three...

First, you should use itunes for you iPod. I know that there are other programs that can let you load music on it, but you should use iTune, Really.

1. You should first download iTunes. It is free.

2. Next. Load your music into iTunes. Do all of this BEFORE you plug your iPod into the computer.

3. Connect your iPod to the computer. Use a fast USB port. These are usually located on the back of the computer.

4. Your iPod should appear in the iTune pane on the left side. You should be able to see a set of 'tabs' that you can click. The first one is about your iPod.

5. At this point, you can click on the music tab to tell the computer to load what to load into the iPod. Click 'sync' to load your music.

6. When the syncing is complete, you will see that notice above in iTunes. Click the arrow next to the iPod picture in the iTunes pane to discharge the iPod. The iPod picture will disappear. Make sure that you also safely release the iPod in the task bar at the bottom of the computer. You will need to click on a green icon that looks like a plug and select 'safely remove storage device'. Wait until the computer tells you it is safe to disconnect it. Then disconnect.

Hope that helps.

Unplug and replug into computer (after safely removing it).
If that does not resolve, check iTunes for updates.

Charging ipod 4gb

Yes, the iPod will show that it is charging on its screen. Disconnecting without ejecting can cause data loss of whatever is stored on the iPod
Ejecting is when you remove the iPod from the desktop by dragging its icon to the trash or clicking on the down arrow next to the iPods name from within iTunes.

If you use the library computer, usually a Windows based OS, you'll need to click on the iPod icon from the task tray on the lower right of the screen. You can right click to select the remove option
