No...some of them (depending on age) came with OS 9. G4s have been around since 2003 iirc. Any newer G4 computer would have 10.4 or later.

I have the latest iPod Touch and an old G4 Mac how do i update iTunes on Mac? Is this possible?

I am afraid the latest iTunes version will not run in your G4, also it is not possible to upgrade your G4 to one of the supporting operating system versions.

Macintosh System Requirements

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
  • OS X version 10.6.8 or later
  • 400MB of available disk space
  • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes

Why am I having trouble with facebook not fully loading on my pc

Could be your browser and/or Mac OS version. The G4s and even G5 Power PC Macs could only run operating systems up to 10.5.8. Minimum OS for running the latest versions of browsers, such as Safari and Firefox is 10.6. under the Intel chipset. Because the old browsers are slow, sites like Facebook and Google do not always support them.
OS 10.5.8 is more compatible than, let's say OS 10.4.9. Check your OS by going to About This Mac under the apple logo on the left side of the screen. It will tell you what your OS is. Your choices: Upgrade your OS to 10.5.8 or take a giant leap to an Intel Mac and run OS 10.6.8 or later. Eventually your old G4 will not be able to connect to anything because of the browser issues.

Os x 10.5

I have not been able to find any full retail versions from apple. I have found them on ebay and amazon. They are expensive and I do not have any more good disks with it. I found that the best os for g4 ppc macs is 10.4.11 but 10.5 will work on G4 867 and faster. I did not get much happiness from 10.5 on any G4.

So the rule of thumb I use is, 10.4 on G4 and 10.5 on G5 and up

I need to upgrade my iBook G4 OS X 10.4 to 10.5

You would need a PowerPC G4 867MHz or faster processor and 512MB of RAM in order to do that. You will also need to find a copy of OS X 10.5 from a 3rd party as Apple no longer sells the OS installation disc.

If you have another MAC computer available, you can create a USB key to solve this problem:

If not, I'm afraid you will have to turn to an authorized apple service center. They will do the repair for you.

Hi Bobby
You will need to get an OS X installation DVD. Try eBay.Don't go for anything lower than 10.4 (Tiger)10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) should run fine on this machine.Don't bother with 10.7 or 10.8

APPLE IMAC G4 - TRYING TO INSTALL OS WITHOUT DISK EJECT BUTTON

Reastart the iMac and at the same time hold down the mouse left click button. If that does not work.
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F.
Note: The Command key has the Apple and (commandkeysymbol.gif) icons on it.
  3. Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware."

This is the message you see when a version of OS X has been installed on a Mac that needs a later version of OS X at minimum, or when the custom gray install disc for one model of Mac has been used to initialize another model of Mac.
You posted this under "iBook G4," and the platform in the error messages says "PowerBook." Provided you posted in the right place, that confirms the above diagnosis.
Initialize your iBook with the proper gray disc, or a retail OS X installation disc, and it will operate properly.

Upgraded eMAC G4 to OS 10 and have display problem

You SHOULD be able to control the monitor adjustments in os 10. In the Displays section of the System Preferences, look for the "geometry" tab. Under this tab you should be able to control width and height so your display fills the entire screen.
If you still can't find it, try adjusting the resolution and refresh rates. Also use the "detect displays" button.
