Re: r165at reddy heater

I had the same problem with a 110. It was the plactic cover over the filter it had cracks in it and would not push out enough fuel for it to run with the cover on. It would just blow out the flame. I replaced the cover with the adjustment screws on it and filters and runs like a champ.

Here is my research for some other fellows with their Reddy's-- Let me kow if it helps -- or if you need something more hepful--

Reddy Heater - Troubleshooting Torpedo Heaters

If you brought the heater to our shop, and gave the above description, the first thing that we would do is check the air pump pressure.

Then, if the pressure is correct (not just close) we would check the photocell for signs of insect nest or something similar blocking the view of the eye.

You must troubleshoot to find out if the problem is fuel related or electronics related- maybe these tips will help (click for link).

Heater does not fire or run while top cover is on. take it off it runs perfect try to put the cover on while running it shuts off.

The air pump pressure could be off a little causing incorrect fuel delivery. Follow this link for instructions.

The nozzle could be worn to a point where a spray is being produced rather than a fog. By removing the top lid you are changing the aerodynamics and the safety system likes the color of the flame (falsely). Replace the nozzle. Follow this link.

Sounds like you need to adjust the airflow so that it is getting enough air to burn.

My reddy heater will run for a minute and then quit ?

Checkfor an air leak somewhere in the system. Just the slightest little bit will cause this kind of problem. Possibly a loose fitting air line, or a crack in the burner head- Doesnt take much of a leak. Best way is to use soapy water and just look fr the bubbles. Watch out for the fan blades!!!!!!!!

in order for the unit to fire up, the little air compressor on the rear of the fan needs to provide 3.6 lbs of air. if your nozzle is clogged it won't fire. for more troubleshooting tips try www dot desatech dot com. this is a site for reddy heat products and parts.
