Question about RCA Cable Modem DCM315R (11603540)
One sure way to reset the modem back to factory settings, is to get on a computer that is connected to it, could be anyone. From there, you would open the internet, and then type in the address bar: "192.168.0.1". If you did not mess with this stuff eailier or ever, then the user name is blank, and the password is admin, by defualt. You would then go to security, And you will see two buttons that saids "yes", or "no" to restoring back the factory defaults, click, "yes". And then click "Apply" at the bottom of the page, it should take about a good minute to apply and restore it back to the factory defaults. And that is how you restore it back to the factory defaults.
****BUT BE WARNED, ONCE RESTORED, YOU HAVE TO SET UP EVERYTHING AGAIN, SUCH AS WEP CONNECTION, PORT NUMBERS, AND THE ROUTER WILL BE UNSECURED UNTIL YOU HAVE CHANGED IT.****

Tips for a great answer:

Reset the modem by removing the power cable from the back of the modem for a full 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
This is sometimes referred to as "power cycling" the modem, and is a good way of clearing network timeouts and other problems that can appear on modems that have been running continuously for some time.
Reset the modem by unplugging the power cord from the electrical outlet or surge protector into which it is plugged.
This is a good alternative to removing the power cord from the back of the modem if it is difficult to get to the modem because of its physical location. Count the full 30 seconds and plug the modem back in to complete the reset.
Reset the modem by pressing the reset button the back of the modem.
The button itself is recessed into a hole to prevent accidental resetting, so you will need a pen or some similar thin utensil that can fit inside the hole.
Press the pen into the hole until you feel the button depress and then let go.
This is sometimes called a "hard reset" or "hard reboot," as this will restore the modem to its factory default settings
Hope this helps
