Re: right out of the box. doesnt work

Don't feel bad - these are cheap TV's and there are lots of problems with them. Just be glad it failed so soon that you can take it right back and get something more name brand this time.
Remember - always google the model number you are looking to buy (with either "repair" or "complaint" in the search) and you'll be less likely to buy an TV industry land mine.

When i turn on my kdl-46ex500 sony tv the screen will flash on and the sony emblem will appear then the tv will shut down you can do this several time still the same out come

You were smart not to let yourself be ripped off. Try this. Unplug and replug the set in powered down status. Then turn on and off using the remote. Then, one by one, actuate every button on the remote, then turn set off, even if already off. Then turn set on. See how the set works now.

I purchased a LG 32lx4dc tv from a hotel liquidator but i can't it to work at home? I don't have the remote. Can I access the menu using a universal remote? Will I ever get it to work at home?

Here is what worked for me:

1. On the LST-4100A box, there is a black, removable card with an F-connector (Cable In) and a RJ-11 (Data). Unscrew the two retaining screws and remove this card. There is an antenna-type connector on the inside that will need to be disconnected from the card.

2. Connnect the control box to the TV via the serial cable (Display Control).

3. Plug in power cables to TV and control box. Turn on TV.

4. There are two lights on the control box. Make sure the "Power" light is on solid and the "Status" light is flashing quickly. If not, cycle power on both the TV and the control box.

5. Press "Menu" and hold the button until the menu disappears.

6. Quickly, press "2 6 6 3" then press "Enter". A small menu should open in the upper left.

7. Scroll down to "DBox". Change to "Off". TV will restart.

8. Disconnect the serial cable from the TV. The remote controls should now work normally with the control box disconnected.

I can't get my freeview box (Philips DTR 2010 to work. Had it working in my flat earlier today & have brought it home for wkend where it's wrkd before. All plugged in but the TV stays 'snowy' when I...

Select the AV input manually via the TV remote. The scart lead may not be switching the TV automatically (if you have two scarts on the Freeview box, then try the other scart socket).

TOSHIBA FLAT SCREEN TV has black screen but power light is on!?

Try resetting the TV by leaving it unplugged for an hour.
Plug it back in and check to see if it works normally.
If that doesn't work, rule out the Directv box by pressing the reset button near the access card. The box could be putting out a signal that doesn't have video or audio.
If everything fails, have the tech man come back to check everything that he did before you use the warranty on the TV.

Tv won't turn on no light in front

I had the exact same issue . The TV literally stopped working 2 year after the manufacture date. Since I had nothing to loose I opened it up and found that the fuse had blown. I put a new one in and if blew also. I work with some electrical engineers and they said first to look at the Diodesmag-glass_10x10.gif. They lent me their diode checker, and the first diode I checked was bad. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures but it was one of the diodes closest to the where the power cord connects to the board. I took the board out and brought it to work and had the electrical guys pull the diode. I got a replacement diode, (.20 cents or so) and had them solder it back in. The Diode number is IN540, you can buy these online, DIGIKEY.COM is one place too look. I took it home put everything back together, including a new fuse and BOOM it fired right up. I did this about a mounth ago and it is still going strong, I should probably knock on wood right about now. If you have an questions please feel free to ask. I am not a TV repair guy, just someone who got lucky. Good luck!

No picture, no status light

This isn't a permanent solution, but it has worked for me. The first time I found out about this solution was when the status light went out on my Tatung. I just left it unplugged and didn't plugged it back in for about a month and a half just to see what it would do. When the status light came back on, I knew if it ever did it again, I could try the same thing. Well, a week ago last Sunday, the status light went out again, so I just kept track of when it went out and when I plugged the power cord back in to see if the status light would come back on. Today when I plugged the power cord in, the status light came back on. That was 9 days. I don't know if it could be less than that because the last time I plugged it back in to see if the status light would come on was around last Friday. So it might have worked sooner. Anyway, this seems to work for me. I don't know what is causing it to lose power in the first place, but at least I know what to do.
