Polaroid 3211-tlxb have power and sound but no picture. It did smell like smoke. Any recommendations? Unit is 2 years old.

If you can see a picture (dim and low contrast) when you shine a light on the screen from an angle, your backlight inverter may have a burned-out part.
After this test, whichever result you get, unplug the set and use your eyes and nose to search for overheated parts. I have found connectors that overheated because of a poor-quality solder connection on the circuit board. Note that parts, particularly resistors, can overheat because of a fault in another part.
It is common for solder connections to deteriorate if they are frequently run at high temperatures. Sometimes circuit boards "normally" turn brown from heat because of marginal thermal design. Check the solder connections on components in the hot areas.
Static electricity precaution: most digital electronics are easily damaged by static electricity discharge. Avoid touching the metal parts of the circuitry unless you first touch the metal frame of the set to discharge any voltage buildup on your body.

Humming or buzzing during wash and spin cycles.

it's the motor that makes the humming sound..it may have difficulty in starting..when starting like this the motor draws more current and this may cause the windings to burn out..try reducing the load..if the sound disappears then indeed the capacity of the motor is deteriorating...take out motor and clean bushing and lubricate.. also realign belt ..

My pictures are coming out blurry, after a year of good quality.

Check that the lens and other elements on the front of the camera are free from dust and grime.  The focus mechanism is not functioning properly and may need to be serviced.

Optical port doors on my av reciever ( sony ) broke off and now the optical cable does not have a tight fit

Hi vbuell!

On most AV equipment, the door on the optical port is there more to keep dust and debris out of the port than anything else. I suppose it could put a small amount of pressure on the cable end as well, but I don't think it should be significant.

If your sound quality has not deteriorated, then the optical cable is still working OK and I wouldn't worry about the situation too much. There are many ways that you could tighten up the fit, but most risk getting debris into the fitting, which is obviously not a good thing.

If your sound quality has deteriorated, I would first get a can of compressed air (you can get one at any store that sells computer parts for a few dollars) and blow out the "hole" where the optical cable plugs in. Plug in the cable again and see if your sound quality has returned. If so, you are good to go. If not, I'd make sure that your cable is working (if it's plugged it at the other end, the end that goes into the receiver should be lit up). If still no sound, you may need to take the unit to an authorized Sony repair facility, which you can find at www.sony.com.

Good luck, and I hope your problem is resolved. If you feel it is appropriate, I would appreciate a rating on my advice that I've given.

Old Sony Handycam Video 8 CCD TR36

Head alignment (re-aligning the tracks) is not something we as owners can undertake - it has to be done professionally.
You can however quite safely clean the heads by using one of the dry cleaning tapes sold for the purpose. I have used an 8mm/Hi-8 cleaning tape made by TDK for a number of years with good results. Remember that if your heads are dirty both recording and playback will be affected and once you have cleaned the heads you need to test the camera by recording new footage and then playing it back to see if matters have improved. Good Luck.

Sony Wireless Mic (Transmitter) UTX-B1

Sounds like some type of manufacturer's flux problem. As an ex-Sony pro dealer we saw something like this years ago. You might want to contact Sony support (industrial or broadcast, not consumer) and see if there is a technical bulletin out on this problem.
