Question about Brother MFC 8500 All-In-One Laser Printer
I've started getting a message that says it's offline, open cover, then
close cover, then Error Code 71, unplug the machine and call Brother.
I saw on one website that it might be the bearings in a motor and that
I might need to replace the Laser Scanning Unit.
Is there any way around this? I can sometimes get it to print a page or two before it starts giving me this error business.
Appreciate any help short of going to buy another all-in-one machine. Any recommendations on what is worth buying?
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

This is an easy one. With the power on, open the front door, where you installed the drum. Press the CLEAR button. The display will ask something like, "Change Drum? Press 1 for yes. Press 2 for no."
Close the front door.

Testimonial: "thanks for your help...this is an awesome way to get help!.....although I didn't think to go online and look up the manual.but with dial up it's slow"
is your fax machine connected to the phone line? this usually indicates the connection status, thus, if your phone line is in...you wont have the "offline message".
hope this helps.
