    Hi Leo2,
Thanks for your kind suggestion. I have two battery packs, and I tried both of them after complete recharging, but none of them worked. Therefore, I think the problem is not battery.
I didn't use the camcorder for 2-3 months before having this problem.

Dear Joe,
Thanks very much for the detailed suggestions.
However, I bought both battery packs together with the camcorder as a set, and both of them were working fine for about two years. The problem just happened a few eeks ago after I didn't use the camcorder for about two months.
The cammcorder also turns off with the A/C adaptor plugged in.

Please be sure you are using a Sony branded battery, if not, the camera will recognize that the battery is not an "info-lithium" and turn itself off. If this is the case, there will be a warning displayed on the LCD just prior to the camera turning off.
Also, does the camera turn off with the A/C adaptor plugged into the camera?
This camera will shut down for a variety of reasons, the most common is the customer using a "generic" battery or the sled motor for the optical drive is hung, this would require factory service.
Hope this helps you,

Error 5100 what do i do???

Error 5100 points to a "carriage jam"
The carriage is the assembly that contains the print head and cartridges.
This error can be difficult to solve because various things can cause it.

Since this is a new printer, maybe there is some packing or packing tape that is obstructing the carriage.
Verify that the carts and print head are installed properly.

Check the gears as best you can for any obstructions.

If the carriage moves to a center position when you open the cover as if to change cartridges, try a reset to clear the error message :

1. Turn off printer (use button, don't unplug)

2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.

3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.

4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.

5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.

6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.

7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.

8. Your printer should respond as normal

When I push the power button the lense moves in and out several times then the camera just turns off. I tried charging the battery and holding the power button down for 10 sec. but still does the same...

The power button has two purposes explanable;
1. A firm press and hold would shut down the entire device, where would be common feature for the camera to perform a system check to include the lense functionalilty.

2. A gentle press and release of the same power button should capture a snap shot only after the camera has been powered on, by the similar process as pressing firmly the power button

Pressing firmly the power button would shut down camera completely after a system check if only the camera was on.

Pressing firmly the power button when the camera is off would turn on the device by performing a system check also.

Important note
The camera when powered on would have an indicator light of ready to capture snap shots.
The camera would autoshut down when left on for an extensive duration without capturing snaps.
The instance of such would generate a camera check once more before powering off completely

The lense adds to the cameras feature capabilities of acquiring images. a function of the lense is capture an impressive image where the mechanism of drawing closer to the object is made possible by a moveable lense. The Olympus FE-340 Digital camera is powered by a battery requiring sufficient energy for a snap shot. keep in mind that, the camera can perform without the lense. However, the device is designed to automatically responded whenever the lense is required.

Important note;
1 a solution to the camera is with the source of energy in which instance batter power.
2.Dislogde the entire power area consisting of battery, check for improper installation; reinstall the battery in appropaitely noticing the installation indications of power supply. Cover the battery compartment properly, and charger afterwords.

1.Charge the battery for the entire duration known of a full charge.
2.Unplug thereafter when the full charge indicator is visible.
3.Try on the device for improvement in situation by taking photo snap shots

When i try to turn my camera on it flashes a small red light and then it won't turn on, how do i fix this?

The Red indicator flashing in the Camera may be the Access Lamp or the Power Lamp. The Access Lamp is located below the Control buttons and the Power Lamp near to the power button. If the Access Lamp is flashing, it indicates that the Camera is accessing the Memory. Do not remove the Memory Stick or Batter while the Access Lamp is lit.

If the Power Lamp is flashing, it indicates that the Camera is turned on. If the Lamp is lit in Red it shows that the Battery is not having enough charge. Insert new batteries or charged Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries to resolve the issue.

You may also try power resetting the Camera. To power reset the Camera, remove the batteries from the Camera and then press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds and then reinsert the batteries after 1 minute and check if the Camera works normally. If the issue persists, service may be required.

First time charging up of archos 5,it has now been charging for about 14-15 hours. but the green light did'nt blink yet. it says after fully charge, the green light blinking. what can be the promlem about...

On an Archos, battery is fully charge when the CHG LED light is flashing, while that light is ON all the time, the unit is still charging.

Now, in order to charge your Archos you must leave it on Suspended mode, by holding the Power button for about 4-5 seconds until it says "Suspending", DO NOT leave it on completely "Shutdown" mode, or your battery will never charge, and you are also risking the life of your battery by doing so.

So in other words:

1) On a PC via USB it should take around 8 hours to charge, while connected to an Archos mini dock, battery dock, or DVR Station, it should take around 3 hours to fully charge.

2) Leave your unit completely "Shutdown" (hold the Power button and wait 10 secs. or so until it says "Shutting down" and let it go off.

3) Connect it to your power source, either USB on computer, or external charging device as mentioned above, it will come back on, the two LED lights CHG and Power will come on, leave it like that, and after a few minutes the unit will go into Standby/Suspended mode by itself, and there is when you are charging your battery the right way.

3) Wait 8 hours if connected to your PC, or 3 hours if connected to an external power supply (as described above). If still after being in suspended mode (not completely off) your CHG light isn't blinking after the 8 hours on PC, 3 hours on external power supply, then suspect your battery is defective.

In that case, if the unit is still under warranty contact Archos, if it is out of warranty. If it isn't under warranty, you can buy a replacement battery on eBay and either replace it yourself, or find someone with the technical skill to do it for you.

I hope this helped you.

Green battery light on the archos 5 but when i disconnect it from dock or usb no green lights abd completely dead - won't switch on either in dock or out???

Power green LED light should come on, CHG green LED light should also come on showing the battery is being charged. Leave your unit in Suspend mode while charging it, DO NOT turn it completely off as "Shutting Down.." because it will not charge your battery.

I just purchased an almost new Archos 5 on eBay recently, and the first day I had it, happened to me that I left the unit off and charging on the Mini Dock with external AC power supply, after 13-14 hours the CHG light still wasn't blinking. Then I though maybe I have to leave the unit in Suspend mode rather than completely off, which I did, and in a matter of 3 hours it fully charged the battery.

Again, do not shut down completely the unit, leave it on Suspended mode, or even on, and connected it to your mini dock, after a while the screen will go blank the unit will go into Suspended mode by itself, and after 3 hours on external power supply or 8 hours via USB on PC should be completely charged and your CHG light should be blinking, indicating the battery is charged.

I hope this helped.

Not powering off

lights flashing like that usually means something is wrong in the shut-down procedure. my guess (and is quite common ) is that the lens doesnt retrack all the way hitting a clitched gear spline or something, maybe just weak motor, your retry it it settles in proper and tells the micro its ok now to shut down. good luck

Problem with printing

Sorry the manual doesn't help much either... this is what it says, "POWER lamp flashes alternate green and orange Turn the printer off and unplug the printer from the power supply. Plug the printer back in and turn the printer back on. If the problem remains, contact a Canon service representative."

You could try the following reset code which works when reseting after emptying the waste ink tank:

Turn off printer
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Hope it helps
