take the cartidge out and look in the settings screen and select manual mode

I'm not to familiar with the DS's but i beleive that is how they are supposed to boot if a cartridge is already in the unit. If not then there may be an option when booting without a cartridge where you can change the settings so that it will boot to the main DS screen before booting the game. I would check this first then seek further help from a more adequate expert on here.

first, you take your ds card out of the slot and next go to the settings then tap the pink box with the wrench in it go the box with the arrow in it select manual mode. your daughter must've had it on auto mode. you can tell by keeping the ds card out on auto mode on the colored bar at the top of your touch screen at the right there is a little box with an "A" in it. that means you're in auto mode.
