Question about Whirlpool ET1FHTXM Top Freezer Refrigerator

Whirlpool WBM35MW I just purchased a Whirlpool wbm35mw, and a few of your threads suggest the compressor draws 6amps instead of 2amps which cause it to play up. How can i check to see what mine is drawing, will i have the same problem. Is it a known problem with this model ? Cheers Z.

If you have reason to believe this is a problem...and I doubt it...you can get an ampere tester from a number of online sites. One vendor is harborfreight.com. They run at least 20 dollars. The meters double as household testers in some cases. Others are recording meters which monitor specific appliances plugged in semi-permanently.

I recently purchased a 20 gal/1.5 HP, model 921.166420. The reset button on the side of the motor, (thermal overload Protector?) cuts out repeatedly. The few times where the motor did run and the pr

Could be weak thermal cutout or actual problem with unit. Thermal cut out easy to check with amp meter. Connect meter as required to monitor draw as unit fills and make sure that it stays at or below usage stated. If amp draw stays below stated usage and thermal cuts out, replace the part. If amp draw goes over amount stated turn off compressor and listen for air leaks (usually check valve will leak back pressure to pump causing extra load on motor).

I have a whirlpool refrigerator model ED25TQXFW01 and it is not cooling. fan runs and it clicks but does not engage compressor. is it the compressor or the starter relay?

You can purchase a kit which is part number URCO410 which is a new relay, overload, and capacitor. If its a newer whirlpool you will want to hook the wires into your old capacitor. It comes with instructions its very easy to install. The reason you want to use your OEM capacitor is because it will draw a lower amperage and give your compressor a longer life as opposed to using the capacitor that comes with the kit. Hope this helps _MJ_

Have a draper compressor. not used much keeps blowing fuse

Compressors blow fuses/breakers for only a few reasons. The most common cause by using an extension cord. It is most often recommended to use more air line instead of a extension cord or at least one that is sufficient to handle the current draw of the compressor.

The next problem is too many items being used on the same circuit that you are using the compressor on. Ideally a compressor should be isolated from all other electrical devices own it's own dedicated circuit.

The last issue is an incorrect rating on the fuse/breaker or one that is worn out.

I hope one of these items takes care of your problem if not please let me know.

Whirlpool commercial ice maker pulling out the circuit breaker after a few seconds of powering up.

The ice maker is drawing to much amperage from somewhere. Is this a free standing ice maker or in a refrigerator. If free standing then it will go through a dump cycle and dump the water out of the reservoir and refill. Then the compressor will come on and that will trip the breaker if it has a weak motor or if it is locked up. You can purchase a hard start at an appliance parts store for $20 to $30 to see if this will help the compressor before replacing it. If it is inside a refrigerator the module motor on the front of the ice maker is shorted and needs to be replaced. Again at an appliance parts store you can get for about $90 you will need the model number located inside the refrigerator.

WBM35MW: Beeping

Try first unplugging the fridge for ten minutes, this will drain power from circuits and can solve some problem of this kind.

If it did not work you have an electronic problem, probably a wire making contact or a faulty control board.

You can buy replacements here.

Or call the number listed on your user manual if you need to call a repairman.

Whirlpool WBM35MW

Further to my previous post, contacted Whirlpool Melbourne who acknowledged problem described and advised that warranty for sealed unit including compressor was five years not three. Gave me local Sydney service agent who called and after looking at unit said it was one of thousands with the same problem. Motor was too small at manufacture and complete sealed unit including larger motor would have to be fitted. All at no cost!!. Unit away for two days and have been told that larger motor will ensure no repeat of problem.

All I needed was proof of purchase, and obtained this from retailer Retrovision without problem even though unit was purchased in Sept 2004.

Hope this helps.
Cheers
