Turn off the Closed Captioning feature. On channels that don't have closed captioning, you just get a blank box.

It sounds that the Closed Caption function [CC}, is not set to ON. Set it OFF. Push the button marked {CC} at the remote control once to get rid of it. If there is no CC button on the remote control, you have to enter its service mode option to deselect it. If you wish to get more details about how to enter, adjust and exit the service mode, check the site linked here. Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Go into the menu and find "closed captions. Once there, turn off the "text" function. If you don't use closed captions, turn it all off. This will make your box go away. Let me know if I can be of further assistance

Tv PROBLEM

The black box your are seeing on the screen is the box to display text. It is listed under your "cc" closed captioning setting as T1, T2 etc. Go into your closed captioning and shut off the text. You can still leave closed captioning on or off. The text system was never really used but they put it on all of the TV's.
