Have 55000 btu reddy heater. plug it in, glow plug lites, fan turns on, will not ignite. seems to not be getting fuel at the nozzle (it is always dry after start cycle). could it be the air pump? the tank screen is clear and there are no cracked hoses. fuel is clean and tank is 1/2 full. filters are clean also. Heater will not start

Does the blower motor start when you plug it in/turn it on? It may take around 5 seconds if your heater has a HSI(hot surface igniter). If it does you need to check the igniter and the fuel flow. Either way, remove the top of the heater. You will be able to see the fan, igniter, and fuel nozzle. Turn the fan by hand to see if it turns freely. If it does, watch out for the fan and turn the heater on. Look for the igniter to start sparking (spark plug type) or glowing (HSI type). Next, use a flashlight to look for fuel spraying from the nozzle. If fuel isn't spraying, try cleaning the fuel nozzle and check the fuel filter. Watch out for the HSI, if you have one, they are very brittle and easily broken. If you still don't have fuel flow after cleaning the nozzle and the fuel filter, you may have an air pressure problem. Let me know and I will tell you how to check it. Don't forget to rate the answer if it works.

When I turn my reddy heater on model R115d(t) the fan cycle for approximatley 5 seconds then stops. The glow plug is getting red but no fuel. What could cause this?

Could be a dirty air filter. Fuel nozzle could be clogged. Fuel filter clogged, if it has one. Some don't. Could be a problem with the low pressure compressor that is attached to back of the fan motor.

I have a 55,000 heater glow plug come on then motor turns on won't start not getting fuel what to do?

does the pump itself run or is the fan and pump run together, if this is the case, you may need to open the nozzle on the pump outlet and prime it (force fuel thru) the lines, the pump may have dried out, also check the fuel supply filter for restriction

Turns on will not pump fuel photo cell works need to know how fuel gets to nozzle 75000 btu reddy heater

the fan motor has on its rear an air pump. pressure from this is fed to the fuel nozzle. the nozzle is constructed like a venturi tube. as air rushes past the venturi it creartes a suction for the fuel and expels it through the mozzle. the spark or hot surface igniter ignites the fuel. the large fan pushes the heated air and flame out the end.

100,000 btu therm controled heater

What did you set the air pump pressure at? This is critical on heaters with Hot Surface Technology. Setting the pump pressure is always the FIRST place to start troubleshooting on these heaters.

Here are some things that can prevent ignition even though there is fuel & glow:
  1. wrong air pump pressure
  2. the nozzle is restricted & distorted not allowing fuel to contact the glowing ignitor
  3. the nozzle is worn. It should produce a cone of fog, not a spray.
  4. there is water in the tank below the fuel.

Please HELP

www dot desatech dot com is a parts distributor for reddy heat products. on their main page they have a short troubleshooting guide. the motor needs to provide 3.5 psi of air across the fuel nozzle to suck the fuel out of the reservoir. check your ignition source (spark plug, hot surface igniter) if the hot surface igniter is broken get a new one, if the spark plug don't spark, check the gap might be too big. see if the spark plug is grounded. poor grounds will cause intermittent sparking. check the high voltage wire for breaks in the insulation, might be shorting out to ground BEFORE the plug. gap should be 75 thousandths.
