Question about GE XL1800 1100 Watts Microwave Oven

1 Answer

GE XL1800 1100 Watts Microwave Spacemaker

The problem that we have experienced is that our microwave will not heat. The panel, lights, clock, etc all work. The unit powers on, but no heat. Does this sound like the magnetron? What would a repair like this cost? Is it cheaper to just replace?

Yes, it could be the Magnetron. If the unit is out of warranty, you can try to remove the rear cover (make sure unit is unplugged) and see if there is a blown fuse in the section that powers the Magetron. They are not too difficult to replace. MCM Electronics sells them and you can call them with your model and they can find a replacement for you will be able to see how much it will cost.

Good Luck,

Sounds like the problem is in the high voltage. Most common would be magnatron, capacitor and diode. For safety reasons this should be checked by a professional. Look in your owners manual because some high voltage parts have a longer warranty than 1 yr.
