My Polaris booster pump has started making a very load noise. The noise seems to come from the motor side of the unit. Any idea what this could be?? Mike

The bearings are failing. Letting it run is ok for the short term but the longer you run it that way the more likely additional damage will occur to the motor and pump. A typical repair of the motor bearings and a new pump seal (which probably caused the problem in the first place) is around $60 - $75 at a local motor and pump repair shop. Look up in the yellow pages under electric motor repair.

The intake reinforced pressure hose is now flatened out. not making any more noise than normal and motor is running. Discharge hose is normal. Pool claener is moving but not at full force as before. 3 1/2...

It seems to me that if the intake (suction) hose is flattened, it is not allowing enough water to the pump. The suction side must be able to allow full flow and larger is always better than smaller. I think that hose must be replaced. Check with your local pool supplier.

I am replacing an old booster pump with a Polaris PB4-60. I have three wires, One Red, One Blue, and One Green. Now I know the Green is Ground, but which poles do the Red and Blue go? Both seem to say...

It is impossible for us to know what voltage you are running as you did not list that information here.
Typically a green-red-blue comination of wiring suggests 240 VAC connections.

Also, every motor you buy is required to have a wiring diagram on the side of the motor. This should tell you where to connect the wires.
IF you are running 240 v as suspected, both the red and blue wires are "hot" wires on the load side of your timing box. Simply look at the side of the motor and follow the diagram on wiring the pump.

Typically most motors in the USA use a L1 and L2 terminal to connect the 2 "hot " wires.
This pump does come factory wired for 240 volts, so it probably is just 1 each of the "hot" lines to L1 and L2.
Before connecting, make sure you confirm your systems voltage with a multimeter.

Below is a link to the installation manual for this pump. But it does not list electrical diagram since its on the side of the motor.

Pump makes a loud whining noise

Probably sediment inside broke loose. Let it go for best results.

If it is obvioiusly from the motor, Id suspect a plastic shield from the start capacitor is loosed and rubbing on the centrifical switch.

My pb4 booster pump is leaking from the booster pump bracket and making a ''whining'' noise when turned on????

Replacing the pumps mechanical seal should fix the leak. The whinning may be from bearing damage due to the leak. If you are unsure how to fix it, try a local electric motor repair shop. We charge about $55 - $60 for that seal and bearings installed.

When running it makes a loud continuous loud noise

Your bearing are failing. Replacing them and the seal at a local electric motor repair shop will likely cost around $50.

My polaris booster pump will not come on. when i turn it on the motor makes a humming noise but wont start

Does it have a century motor? If so, remove the shaft cover plate at the rear and try rotating the shaft with a very thick slotted screwdriver or substitute until it turns fairly easily. Often some mild oxide develops around components that just needs to be disturbed.
