Question about Mitsubishi VS-60609 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

"ant A" and "ant B" inputs go black when the tv is first turned on.

I have had a Mitsubishi vs-60609 60 in. for about 8 yrs.. Recently the picture on inputs "ant A" and "ant B" goes out, and all we get is a black screen. After a little while it will come back on for a bit, then shut back off. This goes on for about an hour then everything is fine until the next time I turn the tv on. Any help would be appreciated.

Try opening that "Ant A, B" device and apply some fresh solder to all the components inside. Also you can try to by-pass that device using the connector below. One end connects the cable in and the other end connects to the circuitry inside the TV.

Try resoldering the vertica IC. Very common problem. When vertical drops out the CRTs go into blanking ( shutdown no picture) but the menu and on screen displays will still work. Resoldering the IC will usually solve the issue.

Mitsubishi VS-55609: No video/audio - just static

You are on the right track. If you cannot see a picture on either antanna A or B then the tuner is suspect.
You may try hooking the cable straight into the TV if you are using a cable box, if not then you should be getting a picture when your other video devices are turned off.
The fact that you get a picture on video tells me that the AV circuits are fine.

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.
