Help! I just recieved a new battery for my Inspiron B130 laptop , it worked for 20 minutes and went into hibernation. So, I turned it off and plugged it in to charge. My AC adapter light was on, green as if it were charging. I left it plugged overnight until the next evening. Now, my laptop does not turn on. I would appreciate any suggestion.

Re: Help! My laptop is dead with a new battery
The battery you were sold was generic ( not genuine ) and does not work with this PC. Although the specs may be the same, the generic battery is either faulty ( warranty ) or does not fully suit your PC.
Best to take the battery to the supplier and explain what has unfolded since you put in the battery, presuming the unit worked fine before hand, and now does not work ( even with an overnight charge ) - you could safely presume the problem stems from the battery itself in one way or another.
Some devices ( Laptops, Video Cameras and so forth ) behave badly or simply will not work at all without the genuine makers battery.

Take the battery off completely and drain the flea power from the laptop by holding down the power button while the battery is off. Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to ensure no power remains on the laptop. Check if your battery has a drain button too. Drain the battery and place it back on the laptop.
Charge it for about 30 minutes before you turn it on. See if it works.

Verify that you obtained an exact replacement power adapter for the Dell. If it is an exact replacement then try this. Disconnect power adapter. Remove battery. Reconnect power adapter without the battery. If it turns on, then power off and place battery back in. Then try again. If problem returns, there could be a problem with the battery itself.
it is very possible that your a/c adaptor/charger is not working well enough to charge or keep you computer runing. with a new battery you should put it on charge for several hour and charge it to the maximum. do you know for a fact that the battery is new you put in it? if the battery is used it may be trash also. sort out the facts then look for the most obvious. most obvious at this point it that a/c charger.
if battery is new and functioning properly(battery) please boot in safe mode by pressing F8 during os starup. and logon as an administrator.
if nothing works out try reinstalling operating system it will solve the problem else update me the ststus.
possible when the old AC adapter blew it took part of the power management circuit with it, This is the circuit that detects and charges the battery,
I'm not sure whether this a seperate replaceable daughter card or whether it is part of the main motherboard.
you will need to investigate this (or send it for a service)
