Compaq laptop C310 T1300

Hi there, I was wondering if you can help me.
When I load my laptop up, It comes up with the text:

Here's what you should do.. first, as mentioned, you should backup all your important files in another drive or an optical drive... once you have done it, format your hard drive and perform scans to check the error.. during scan, you will see errors on it and you may not be able to fix it since the drive is internally damaged.. purchase a new one ok? just make sure to backup all your files..

by the way, if your hard drive is still in warranty, you can have it replaced to the manufacturer.. its not your fault anyway since it their hard drive is faulty..

Smart failure predicted on hard disk repair

This means either your hard disk is about to fail or it already has in which case you will need to purchase a new HDD (hard disk drive) and then contact acer to purchase recovery disks or if it is still under warranty then contact for service.

Do what it says and backup immediately.

  1. After everything is backed up, download and run Speedfan.
  2. then open "S.M.A.R.T" data for your drive and click "Perform an in-depth online analysis of this hard disk"

3. I will send the diagnostic data(it is safe as does not contain any private info) to a hddstatus.com webpage and open analysis result.
4. Paste the permalink from results page here. It is on the bottom of page and reads "this".

Then we could see what exactly is about to fail but most likely you will need a new drive(SSD prefered) or a new laptop. Depending on laptop specification replacing HDD with SSD drive could inject a new life in this rather old laptop.

Smart failure occured in harddisk

Get to a command prompt during boot by pressing F8 and run chkdsk x: /f/r X being most likely the C drive that has the SMART predictive drive failure, or disable the option in BIOS.

Can you tell me what it means when my laptop says Smart Failure Predicted on Hard Disk..Warning:Immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive.A failure may be imminent..Do I need the hard...

Before you do anything run a full virus scan on your system, sometimes viruses and trojans will give you messages saying mean and nasty things are about to happen. make sure your scan includes everything. it might take awhile but well worth it. if nothing comes of this then you might be in for a major shut down.

Smart failure predicted on hard disk toshiba mk4025gas ( pm )

This means your hard drive is bad or about to go bad and needs to be replaced. If you can still access the drive, immediately back up anything important to you. You will then need to replace the hard drive. Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution with a fixya rating, even if the news isn't what you wanted to hear. Thanks! :c)

My toshiba satalite p300 wont work. this is what it says on the screen : SMART failure

The purpose of S.M.A.R.T. is to warn a user or system administrator of impending drive failure while there is still time to take preventative action, such as copying the data to a replacement device. Approximately 64% of failures can be predicted by S.M.A.R.T.[2] Work at Google on over 100,000 drives has shown little overall predictive value of S.M.A.R.T. status as a whole, but suggests that certain sub-categories of information which some S.M.A.R.T. implementations track do correlate with actual failure rates – specifically, in the 60 days following the first scan error on a drive, the drive is, on average. If you can not get the comp to boot, you may need to replace hard drive and reinstall OS and software.

Acer 1642 laptop is giving me much trouble. Was working fine until, fapoot... now i receive a message: SMART failure predicted on hard drive 0:ST6100825A-(PM), please help if you can

A SMART failure means that your hard drive is predicted to fail
soon. Fortunately these warnings are not right 40%-50% of the time. Go to the command prompt (start- run- type in "cmd")
In the prompt type in "chkdsk"
This will run tests on your hard drive and tell if there is anything wrong with it.

When you turn the computer on it says SMART Failer predicted on hard disk 0: HTS54108G9SA00-(S1)

S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a diagnostic method originally developed by IBM that at that time referred to as "Predictive Failure Analysis". This technology was developed for IBM mainframe drives to give advanced warning of drive failures. Based on this diagnostic, Compaq announced IntelliSafeTM, which was submitted to the ATA/IDE standards committees and the resulting standard was named S.M.A.R.T.
S.M.A.R.T. analyzes many of the mechanical attributes; over time, some failures can be predicted by detecting if the hard disk drive is moving out of tolerance. While the S.M.A.R.T. technology can detect upcoming issues, not all hard drive failures are predictable.

All this means on most modern drives is the hard drive is coming close to the maximum tolerances

I usually switch off in the bios smart monitoring.

This system is trying to predict a possible failure, which may or may not occur..

Smart failare predicted on hard disk

Pull off all of your critical data and replace the hard drive as soon as possible. SMART exists solely to give you an early warning of impending drive failure so you have enough time to backup your data before losing it permanently.
