Want to uninstall Spy Sweeper and the error message says that the uninstall version is not compatible. How do I get a compatible version?

Go to control panel, then select "add or remove programs" (win xp), or select "programs and features" (win vista). Allow the computer a little time to build the program list, then from here you can uninstall the program. (If you can't find it, you might find it under a publisher name.)

Hope this helps.

Compatability issue

On Feb. 12, 2008, Microsoft released an update that fixed the recent compatiblity issues between Windows Vista and Webroot Antivirus/Spy Sweeper that were a result of a previous Windows Jan. 8, 2008 update.
Recommended Fix:
To fix this issue, update your copy of Windows Vista with the latest updates available as of 2/12/2008. For many users, Windows Vista will update automatically at its next scheduled time, but the update is also available as a manual download. See below for instructions on how to update Windows Vista.
We also recommend updating your copy of Webroot Antivirus/Spy Sweeper. The latest version does not experience any compatibility issues and it is generally recommended that you update your software to the latest version in order to ensure maximum security and protection of your PC.

Error states Spy Sweeper is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems.

This from the Webroot Web site on supported operating systems:

Windows Vista® (32-bit versions of Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate), Vista SP1 (32- and 64 bit versions of (Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate).

So, assuming you have bought the latest Spysweeper (and assuming you have Vista 64 bit) , then you need to upgrade your Vista to SP1.

The driver is blocked due to compatibilidad issues

Check that your Windows version is compatiblw with that version of Spysweeper. If it is, then .....

Re-install the Spy Sweeper again as there could be an installation error due to registry-based problems ( do not tinker with the Windows Registry ). You should be getting a good scan again if that installation is successful!

Check that your Windows version is compatiblw with that version of Spysweeper.

Can not find compatable driver. there are uncompatable drivers detected. software will not load, keep getting error messages.

There is not compatible driver it is most likely a windows update
KB943302 try to remove this update and see if it works.
this update is only for compatibility issues, seems to cause more than fix, nothing new with windows.

Spy problems

First Try This:
Try to uninstall Spysweeper and reinstall (Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs)

If it gets nasty reboot in to safe mode (follow these steps):
1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the "Windows XP with networking"

Once you are in safe mode do this:
1. Download the free microsoft app "Autoruns" from
2. Extract the .zip file
3. double click the file "autoruns.exe"
4. The program will start autoscanning your computer to see what boots up with it (it will take a few min.... bottom left of screen tells you when it is done)
5. Make sure you are in the "Everything" tab (which loads up by default)
6. Hit CTRL + F (to do a Find)
7. Type "Spy" and hit ENTER
8. The first entry containing the word "Spy" in your startup instructions will be highlighted
9. Look at the "Image Path" column, if it contains anything like "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\" uncheck that item
10. Press F3 to see the next item containing the word "Spy"
11. Keep repeating steps 9 & 10 until you get through the entire list
I'm guessing you might find the following:
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SSU.EXE
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exe
12. Reboot as normal (spysweeper should not load up)
13. Attempt uninstall, reinstall again
