it will not read any disc that you put into the computer. Is there some kind of command I could do that would make it read the disc?

If I try the F2 or delete it just restarts the computer. Any other ideas? You think the hard drive crashed?

the screen goes straight to the file missing or corrupt screen. It is all black. it is as if the computer never even starts to load anything or even try.

It does that to mine to but I leave it like that, it never affect my pc any way. but if your really want to get rid of that you need to reprogram your pc, by having vista or xp. booting is the best. but before you do the booting you need to back up your pc or transfer your important files to any storage device like dvd/cd or external hard drive.

THEre is no option about that but you should provide a bootable disc and boot your system in CD rom and reinstall the windows.

Ok when you start the system "press "F2 or DElete to enter the bios setup.

In there ; Go to the "boot priority" the selet the cdrom to boot.

You can short cut it pressing " F9" and then prompted you to select the priority boot device.

In this does not work for then you should examine your disc and the CD rom if it is ok.

any problem arising in it please notify soon. i am online.

My hp pavilion 513n has completely stopped working! I need help!

Start the computer, and keep pressing F8 until you get a "boot" menu -- white text on a black screen.
Select "safe mode with command-line", and see if Windows will start.
If it does, enter 'CHKDSK C: /F' to get Windows to check the integrity of the file-system.

Then, find a friend with a genuine Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM. Boot from that disk, and choose "repair", and see if the boot-process can "repair" your installed copy.

Hi, There could be two reasons for it. The user profile is corrupted or windows is missing a critical file.
  1. click on start>run>type msconfig>click ok
  2. click on the startup tab on the top left of the new windows
  3. On the bottom right click on disable all
  4. click on apply and Ok
  5. restart the computer and when the system comes back on put a check mark on the box next "don't show this message again"
  6. Click Ok
  7. check if the issue is resolved
If the issue is not resolved you can create a new account in windows.
Thanks for using fixya proton

Sony Vaio PCV-RS710G wont start up

one of the files in the system32 directory in the windows folder is corrupt, the files in the system32 folder contains vital files for the boot procedure, try to start the machine in "safe mode" by pressing F8 after the sony boot screen, if it allows you into the operating system you will need to choose "system Restore" take the time back to at least a week before your problems started DO NOT CREATE A RESTORE POINT
