PTC 96012 Replacement

On philips 25GR9660/22B Chassis a PTC 96012 (3 pin) is installed.
It must be replaced because was burned, but this not available any more in market place. So a corresponding item is needed. Is there any suggestion?

Flyback is shot. Repairman says part is no longer made. True??

Well, I thought I could look up a replacement if you really wanted one. To answer your question, the original part is probably no longer available from the manufacturer. This is especially true for a small TV where the replacement cost for the whole set is pretty low. But if the set was a popular model or used the same chassis as enough other models, a replacement flyback might be available. So the tech was probably right.

Hi there!

Dead short in the power supply, possibly the rectifier or the PTC has failed. PTC located in the Primary supply at the point where the coil around the tube plugs into the Main board. Two terminals to be exact. Normally cream in colour if it is an original Philips PTC. If the rectifier is short you may expect to have more items blown. Good Luck, Regards, JUS004

If the power button on the TV (or on most Philips units ANY button press) doesn't turn it on, it has a failure or is unplugged. How can you not know this??

Philips 32PT6441/37 32"

I don't know about this particular philips chassis but I've got a phillips tp3281 with a #32d700-7570 chassis with the same problem: apparently common with philips sets. I opened mine up and discovered the burnt capacitor that others have reported, replaced this as recommended with a higher rated one. In many cases this is apparently ALL that is required to fix the prblm (a 50 cent part)unless other components are also damaged which appears to be the case with mine. This repair is about $150 here locally at a shop which I didn't want to put into a relatively old set. Have you opened up your set yet? Do a Google search on your set and you might find that others have had the same problem and a simple fix could be possible. Also you could check the following site as they seem to be quite savvy and responsive with TV repair questions:; Hope that helps!
