Nikon 18 to 70 AFS-DX lens focus erroers
Hi, I use this lens on a Fuji S3 and D300 Nikon. I have had it a year or so and it`s been fine. However with shots taken at my last wedding some of the images were out of focus, the focus was more on the background. The focus point was on the subject as I checked this in Nikon Capture (Raw Files).The problem is on both cameras which points to a lens problem. Are there any known "backfocus error" issues with this lens?

- Hi, I have found the solution in the lens instruction book. It reminds you to keep the lens contacts clean. I ran a clean dry lens cloth over them and a dark smear was deposited onto it. So despite keeping my lens elements front and back super clean I never thought the contacts would become soiled/dirty as they are not exposed 99% of the time and are inside the camera body out of harms way, or off camera have their rear lens cap on. All seems fine now but to be sure I put a little isopropyl alcohol onto a tissue and gently wiped the contacts (lens and body). I will make a note of doing this more regularly as it appears constant lens changes and probably contaminants within the body do find their way onto them.Best Solution

I have never heard anyone mention a backfocus problem with this lens. In my experience, most of the backfocus issues that I have worked with to help people resolve have panned out as user error and/or a misunderstanding of the AF modes and performance of the camera. You sound like you know what's up, so that may not apply to you...you may have a real issue. The best thing for you to do before proceding to having is service is test the lens thoroughly on both bodies to see if this is a consistent, reproducable problem or just an anomaly.
