Belkin wireless connection

I have a desktop and laptop connected to a belkin wireless router. Desktop is via a belkin wireless 802.11g desktop network card. It's speeds and connection come and go. The laptop is consistent, so it's a problem with the wireless card.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Try these first:

change channels to 1-6-or 11. Make sure you change all of your wireless computersBelkin wireless connection - 1.gif.

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones1.gif in the area and see if it helps.

Try going to the usb and the wireless adapter in device manager, properties. And make sure that the computer1.gif does not shut them off to save power.
Please let me know how you make out.
thanks

My Dell desktop using Windows XP can't connect to my Belkin 5720 router but my laptop still works?

This sounds like a hardware failure, but just in case go to your computer Control Panel-Network Connections(Network and Sharing Center for Vista and above), and check your Network adapter settings. If your Network card is not showing, you may have a driver issue, or a bad NIC (Network Interface Card). It shouldn't matter that your router says" wireless hardware not detected", because you are hardwired from the computer to the router. I would check to see if you may have turned off, or blocked Ethernet connections on your router, I would then change my Cat5 (Ethernet) cable, and finally open the desktop and change out the NIC (Network Interface Card).

Step 5 : Disable it and Click on apply changes

Step 6 : On the left under wireless click Security

Step 7 : Enable 64 Bit WEP ( WPA WILL NOT WORK )

Step 8 : Type a 10 digit number on the key 1 ( 2 in each box )

Laptop stopped connecting via wifi to home network.

The wireless settings in the Belkin has been setup with encryption.
You can restore the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and press the RESET button for 7 secs.
It is not wise to leave your wireless router unsecured, anyone can access your network and Internet connection and use up your allocated download limit. Once you exceed your download limit you could be slug with addition charges - this depends upon your contract with your ISP.

Can't connect DSi with same security as comps

hello, yes i had the same problem, but i had it with many other computers, the way i solved it was going into the router settings and click the "restore default settings" then turned the router off for 15 seconds (for a fresh reboot) then when i had to set everything up again i got all my computers on the router and im able to add more without running into that same problem once again, or for a simpler solution try disconnecting the wireless on the computers and replugging them in.... that works sometimes as well

My network connecton does not work when I connect the wireless laptop I cannot get Internet Explorer connection but if I disconnect the Bilkin I have no problem with my desktop

You are splitting your bandwidth, which is apparently insufficient to run the Belkin and your desktop. I am betting that you are connecting the Belkin to the ethernet in your Desktop, rather than connecting the Belkin to your modem and then connecting the desktop to your Belkin.

Try that if I am right.

Trying to set up wireless from desktop (Main ethernet computer) to Laptop @ home. Have cable modem (comcast) connected to desktop (main ethernet plugged computer)Belkin Wireless Router G ethernet is hooked...

Check that the wireless drivers are installed properly on both your laptop and desktop. THe certificate error is because your laptop does not "trust" your computer. Under network conections click add a connection ec, and when you try to conect, microsoft should ask you weva to trust the connections from computer to computer that should do it :D
