Press the power button and the left side record button simultaniously for about 10 seconds. Usually this problem happens when the primary software image cannot be located or is corrupt. Also check to ensure your SD Card is in properly. If that doesn't do the trick upgrade.
Mine wouldn't turn on. When connected to the charger it would turn on, but would not recognize any taps or work. I checked the Owner's Manual and you can perform a "soft reset". Using the stylus, hit the reset button on the back once quickly (do NOT hold for more than a tap) and it reset and is working fine now.
CHECK LOCK BUTTON ON LEFT SIDE...This solution is already posted, but I wanted to repeat it for new users like myself. (It might be an old device, but it's new to me!!! I didn't even know there was an unlock button.) But mine was locked (inadvertently), alright! Luckily, I backed up before doing a hard reset or I would have lost everything. BACKUP BEFORE COMPLETING A HARD RESET.

You will need the disk that contains the firmware. The best thing to do is check on Amazon or ebay and upgrade to the highest firmware your device can accept. I belive the cost for a downloadable copy is between $5-10. If you do this make sure to follow the instructions for you can irrevocably render the device useless. :-(
My Axim X30 would not turn on using battery power but would turn on when connected through charger adapter.
1. Connect AC adapter directly to the charger adapter and then to the Axim X30 and to the electrical outlet.
2. Charge battery until power button is solid green.
3. Press the power button to power on.
4. Remove cable from cable connector leaving the cable connector connected to the Axim X30. The Axim X30 will remain powered on.
5. Turn the Axim X30 off.
6. Turned the Axim X30 on using battery power.
7. Remove cable connector from Axim X30.
I suggest making sure the lock switch on the upper left side of the PDA is not in the lock position. I had this problem and I think that I just bumped it into the lock position. This lock switch prevents any buttons from being a input to the PDA. Hope this helps, Duane.
My power button was also blinking orange/green/orange/green. I pulled the battery and put it in the back of the cradel. It still blinked there too, orange/green. So I bought a battery. Does this sound like your issue?
This sounds like a corrupted ROM file. The ROM stores all your operating system and pda's firmware alltogheter. If it becomes severely corrupt the pda doesn't boot properly or doesn't work at all. This appears like a fixable problem however you will need to have it fixed in a service center, because they need to acces your device's bootloader or rewrite it using some special hardware, then they will rewrite the memory with a fresh rom file. This will have you device up and working. However please avoid to send it to dell as this will get expensive. Most pda services are able to do this and the generic ones will do it cheaper.
Try to look for a cheaper, generic "pda service" center.
Hope it helps.
There is a program called Peacemaker that will allow you to transfer contacts by IR. I used it to transfer from my Palm III to my IPaq and from my IPaq to my T-68i. It will only allow a block of 50 contacts at a time
