Question about Toshiba Satellite P15-S470 PC Notebook

1 Answer

My Toshiba Satellie P15-S470 turned off by itself and I can not mak it to run.

Few weeks ago I notice that when I operated the power button in order to leave the laptop on “stand-by”, my laptop was shutting down.
Yesterday, my laptop shut down by itself after a period of time and today I have experienced the same situation, BUT now it does not start at all. I noticed that only for about one second it seams that will start but no chance so far.
PLEASE is anybody able to tell me what is wrong with my laptop and how should I fix this problem?
Thank you very much.
I am looking forward to getting a good advice.

    Hi to every one,

I would like to share with you my experience regarding the
problems I had with my Toshiba Satellite P15-S470.

Next day, after you sent m your recommendations/suggestions,
I went to a Computer shop next to my residence. There one young technician tried
to assist me and checked the AC Adaptor of my laptop. Finally he said that
there is no problem with the AC Adaptor, and he added that “probably the
motherboard is out of order and it has to be replaced”.

Then, the following day I went to “SCOP Computers” workshop in Bucharest
left my laptop to be verified in order to establish a diagnosis for it.

Next morning I call the “SCOP
to find out if there is any progress with the diagnosis of my
laptop. Somebody told me that I can come to pick up the laptop from the
Reception, it has its motherboard out of order and it cost more then EURO 800,
plus VAT, plus labor etc. When I picked up the laptop I asked the man from
Reception which is the diagnosis. He said that that the motherboard is the
problem and it has to be replaced. I asked him to give me a paper with the
diagnosis but I was told that it is not necessarily. Then I asked if I should
pay for diagnosis and he said NO. Then I asked him to go to the technician to
tell me the part number of the motherboard which I should buy form other shop
because they have too high prices.

Coming back at home I decided to search on INTRNET a site to
find out the steps to disassemble my Toshiba laptop. My intention was to try to
    replace by myself the motherboard.

Later on assisted by one young and smart relative we checked
again what could be wrong with my laptop. Of course we started from AC Adaptor
and its electrical cables. Finally we
discovered that the problem was with an adaptor for European plugs. The AC
Adaptor cable was designed for US
plugs and I had to use an European plug adaptor. Few days before I had tried to
fix that European adaptor and I used some Bison Epoxy Metal to fix it better.
    Unfortunately during that process one
leg of the plug got isolated
    . The
result was no power went to AC Adaptor, the battery got flat and normally the
    laptop could not start

    Lessons learned:

    1. Do not trust all the technicians.
Especial, some like Toshiba dealers in Romania. They have very high
prices and want to make money, as much as possible, and they do not care
      for costumers.

    2. I am suspecting the technician from Toshiba
dealer workshop (SCOP Computers) of bad intention
      . He did not check
the laptop properly. If he had checked the battery and later on supplied
the laptop with power using one compatible AD Adaptor they should told me
why my laptop was not starting.

    3. Because I could not afford to buy from
SCOP Computers a motherboard (MB) paying more than EURO 800, probably they
didn’t want to check the laptop properly.

    4. I wander what would have happened if
would have bought a new MB and I would have given to them. Would they have
      replaced it or not?

    5. In
October last year, I went to SCOP Computers with a new video cable in
order to replace the old one which was suspected by SCOP technician as
being out of order. In the end I
was told that the problem I had with the LCD screen was not sorted out
      (the LCD screen was blank)
. Unfortunately I had to return the video
cable to ebay merchant (according to 7 days returning policy).

    Best regards,

Is your laptop connected to a power source? If not it needs to be recharged...
Check also the battery of your laptop, it might be dead already... meaning even if it is charging the battery doesn't charge anymore... it may need replacement.

To check the battery... remove it from the laptop and find a flat button to check if the battery is charged, or half charge, or none at all. If below half then the battery needs to be replaced.

try accessing your bios on your laptop and change the date on it. To access the bios just press F2 or F10 once you press the power button. Once you are inside of the bios locate the settings for date and time, then that's the time you can change and save it before you exit.

Where is the location & how to remove the hard drive for toshiba satelite P15-S470

The hard drive is located under the CD/DVD drive. Before you start taking apart the laptop, remove the battery and unplug the AC power.

1. You have to remove the CD/DVD drive. Turn the laptop over. Remove one screw right above the dive and slide the drive out of the laptop.
2. When the CD/DVD drive is removed, you'll see a metal plate. The metal plate is secured by 4 screws. Remove them and lift up the plate from the bay. The hard drive is located right under the plate.
3. After you remove the plate, you'll see the hard drive. The hard drive also secured by 4 screws. Remove the screws, slide the hard dire to disconnect it from the connector on the moterboard and lift it up.
4. You have to transfer the brackets from the old hard drive to a new hard drive. Also, if there is a foil shielding around the old hard drive, you'll have to transfer it to a new hard drive too.

Below is website with a picture guide on how to remove the hard drive>>>>
