you mean you swap hard drive from different computer, it all boils down to driver incompatibility since OS was installed in different system. go to (Windows button+R) then type devmgmt.msc try to look for highlighted part then update the driver

Go to intel and download and install this chipset deriver 845PE
It should fix your problem.

You need to find the drivers for the controller card.

Put the drivers onto a floppy drive. When the software asks for the drivers, use those drivers to let the OS know where to look for the hard drives.

I'm not sure if vista can load drivers off of a USB thumb drive. I havn't actually tried it yet.

Check Maxtor for the drivers you need.

First, un-install the USB port in the control panel, then restart.
Then in the control panel under device manager, look for the USB drive ,make sure it's not exclamated out.

Normally this unit does not need drivers in Vista nor XP. I had a unit doing the same and it turned out to be the board in the enclosure. I returned it and the new one worked fine.

Ok Go into your hardware device manager and uninstall your Universal Serial Bus Controllers and if there is mass storage device also uninstall it. Click on action -> scan for hardware changes, then it should automatically install the drivers back now it should detect.

which can of driver cannot be find the right thing you can do is product of your computers name and go to any cafe to have acess to the net and type the websit of that particular product and download the driver and install it on your computer

Vista may require drivers that are not preinstalled. If the drive clearly works on one machine, but not another, its safe to pressume its not the drive. On the VISTA machine, go to the Iomega site and download the driver for vista or usb or whatnot.
