My sony has an issue

When i touched my computer to come out of sleep mode my monitor had lines running down it, it is a 5 year old sonyt lcd, in addition to that i hit a reset button in the menu of the monitors controls and it expanded the viewing area past the limits of the monitor, meaning that i can move an icon so far to the side that i can never see it, and top aswell, so how do i adjust the height and width of the viewing area because the menu on this sony doesnt have a control to do that at all. how can i fix this problem?

Monitor going to sleep

juanmgerman0, Connect SDM-X82 to known-good pc that has all sleep mode, power-save mode disabled. (turned-off) If unit still goes to black screen mode, then look at the "date of Manufacture" on rear of unit and let me know if you see "2002 -2004" as the year produced. Retrevo lists unit as "time to retire". Power supply may be going into shut-down mode having detected a problem with itself or the CCFL inverter circuit. 12fixlouie

Monitor keeps stating "monitor going to sleep" now awhile after booting up. The monitor works fine with other computers and the computer in questioning when in safe mode - yet if tried to boot normally,...

This is probably a video setting issue. In Safe Mode, Windows starts with low resolution and color settings, so the monitor can display them. But when it tries to start normally, Windows is using a video setting the monitor can't handle.

Start the computer and press the F8 key three or four times when the manufacturer's logo screen appears. This should get you to the Windows startup menu screen, and you can pick the option of starting in VGA mode. This will start Windows with video settings any monitor can handle.

Once you have Windows up and running, make sure the video card and monitor types are properly set up. It would also be a good idea to download and install the latest drivers for your video card. You can usually find them at the manufacturer's website.

No DVi input, then computer goes to sleep

Hi publicworker,

I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.

How to do that:
  • right mouse click on the desktop
  • select graphic options
  • output to
  • extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.

Blank screen

Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen went white, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace.
Thank you,

Works when it wants to then turns whie with grey line in it

If only the monitor is going to sleep, then it could be a problem with the connection from the monitor to the computer or with the cable.

If the computer goes to sleep and if you are not able to wake it from sleep then check the sleep mode settings and also the power management settings for the keyboard and mouse.
You may also do a system restore if you are not able to wake the computer from sleep.

When I select sleep or hibernate mode - the monitor stays black...

Hit the keyboard keys. It is better to just turn sleep and hibernate off and just use a screen saver or tun it off.
