Re: screen flashes colors then turns off

Check connector between Logic & PSU 2nd pin from Left (Vs_ON) for DC volts.
If Voltage is 0 then problem is with Logic or SSB.
If Voltage is 3.1 VDC then problem is with PSU or other PCB's on Panel.
On startup Logic checks for errors and also polls the SSB for Errors. If Errors found then Logic will not send High to PSU.
To confirm if SSB or Logic is at fault then disconnect and remove SSB.
Use 2 Jumpers to short J8003 & J8004 on the left edge of the PSU
Use 1 Jumper to short CN2012 on the lower left part of the Logic PCB (White signal to the Display).
Plug in the AC to the PSU thru CN8001.
If PDP panel operates with White field screen then problem may be the SSB.

Loss Color

I get that there is no Chroma on something but not sure in what mode or source you are speaking about. Sometimes people have trouble due to a setting being wrong or they use a really cheap video cable which can strip the higher frequency Chroma signal off of the Baseband or Composite video signal. Try a higher grade of video cable- video signals at 10MHz bandwidth do not like to go through cheap audio cables. maybe you could clarify the problem more?

Trying to connect a new high definition digital box to tv with hdmi but keeps flashing and saying its searching

I looked through the Hitachi web site for your owners manual, no luck. If you're trying to use HDMI as the type of connection from your digital TV box to the TV, keep in mind that HDMI is not a network, but a one way point-to-point connection. That said, make sure that the cable is seated firmly at both ends. Next, grab the owners manual from the cable box and make sure it is programmed to be sending HDMI. The cable box MUST be programmed before it will send HDMI. The TV is most likely ok, check the cable boxes programming.
If the cable box has a regular "video out" connection, temporarily use that to be able to "see" the cable box and go through it's menus. Find the HDMI section, turn that signal on and you should be good to go.

Flashing boxes on screen

Regardless of what the satellite company says, I would find a way to try another satellite reciever to start with. I have seen this from cable boxes and satellite recievers many times. I have also seen this with a bad LNB, distribution amplifier, or a bad active splitter, or a bad cable, or a bad connector.

There is a data loss somewhere, and the set is seeing what we call aliasing. This is a loss of data, and it shows as blocks.

It is possible for your set have internal aliasing if there is a fault on one of the processor boards. The only way you will easily know if the problem is external or internal to the set is to try another source.

From your description, if other sources work with the set, then this strongly rules out the set. To easily know if the fault is on the input that the sat reciever uses, if possible swap the position with the DVD player.

On the sat system, a defect in the reciever, the LNB, or any LNB splitters or a relay, or a bad connector, can also cause aliasing because of a signal loss.
