Question about Sony KP-53HS10 TV

Sony KP-53HS10 lines flicker across screen

Lines flicker across screen with any input device (SAT, DVD), similar to RF cable being loose. Power down used to fix this but no more. Also Flash Focus convergence has to be done more often

Re: Sony KP-53HS10 lines flicker across screen

Tap around on the circuit boards in the rear of the television. narrowed it down to the Comb Filter circuit board. It is the smallest upright circuit board behind where you plug in all your connectors. pulled it out cleaned it off, reinserted it

I have a Sony rear projection tv model # KP 53HS10 I need to connect to a Direct TV satellite box

Depending on the way that you want to do this, you can use a short coax to connect to the antenna input and the sat box. You can use component cables to connect from the sat to the set. If you do that you need 3 cables for video and two for sound. You can use svideo also and maybe digital audio.

Screen goes black and resets during HD shows

Have you already tried to power cycle all the devices? Unplug the power cable on all your devices for about 1 hour then plug it back in. Check if that fixes it.

Sony KP-53HS10 Flicker, Crackling, Blue Shadow Problem

ok from what i see in this video, you have a bow at the top turning this flash. looks like you may have a weird shorting problem in your convergance ic's. try unplugging all your convergace yoke connectors and see if it stops. if so then you will need to replace all conv ic's. do not run set with conv unplugged for very long as it will cause resistors to heat up and possible burn them out.
30 secs to a minute max for testing. if you tv does not do this when you first turn it on, then wait for it to act up, then unplug conv plugs while set is on.

KP-53HS10 Real HD

On this TV there is only one input for any HD resolution. Input # 5 is the component input i.e. red/green/blue cable. Just get the correct cable and match colors from cable box to TV this will allow the TV to display 1080i resolution ( only one this TV supports ). FYI you will also have to connect the red and white cables to the appropriate inputs to get any sound because red/green/blue connectors are just for video display not sound. Once your connected you'll be able to access video # 5 be sure to set your cable box to 1080i resolution also. I hope this helps later J.

Sony vega 36" tv

Hello ladybaker,

This is possibly a problem with the low voltage power supply, or it could be a problem with the tuner. To test this out. What I need for you to do is to disconnect the cable from you cable TV set top box to the RF connector of your TV. Then I want you to connect either your composite or component video cables from the set top box to the TV and using the remote switch the input from the RF (tuner) to the composite input and note if this removes those lines. The select the component video input from the menu and note if this gets rid of those lines.

If the lines disappear for the composite and component video input test. Then the problem is in the tuner, if the lines remain then the problem is in the power supply or there is a video problem.

In either case after the test I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician troubleshoot the TV and repair the problem. At least you will have input to tell the technician on whether the problem is in the tuner or the power supply/video section.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Non-HD picture issues

Sounds like you may have something generating interference, such as a bad cable shield on maybe a ground connection inside your tv. You might try moving the cables while watching the screen and see if the pattern changes. Double pictures on a screen can be caused by "ghosts", which means that you're getting two signals--- one slightly behind the other. Anything oscillating generating a radio frequency may radiate into your circuits causing this strange problem. Stargazer
