MS Word problem

This may seem like a silly issue, but I can not figure out how to stop it from happening. We had MS Word loaded on our system by a local company. When I start typing any word that starts with Dent (I work for a dentist), it pulls up the local companies name... How do I get that from happening all the time?? We no longer use them so I think that's why it is somewhat annoying too to me.

Again, I know this isn't earthshattering, but if anyone should have a solution , I would greatly appreciate it!!

There should be an option for "auto complete" somewhere. I don't recall exactly where the setting was, but I agree, it's annoying.

I believe it was under "options" if memory serves me right.

Use find or search and find the word "dent' in a file. Once you do (and it will probably appear in many files) you need to either delete it or replace it with dentist (presumably). You have (or someone has) created something which is effectively an instruction to put your companies name whenever dent is typed. This ability (and I am not up to date with Word / I use an old version) is probably also in the help dialogue somewhere...try a search using a few keywords relative to your problem....or go to help and wind your way through all the dialogue....the latter is not a bad idea by the way. I often find answers to what I consider dumb dumb problems (always in retrospect) that I have incurred (once and once only). Good luck.

Trying to figure out why i am having issues inserting a mail merge into a publisher document and folding. When i send it to the printer it works for the first 26 then blank pages come out.

Software issue. If Publisher help is no good you might have to check this out on Google - if it is happening to you it has happened to others. Fix should be on line. Otherwise go to MS.

Silly question - where do you add the detergent?

Often you will find the detergent dispenser very close to the dispenser for the softener. Mine is a separate container within the same "pullout" drawer that holds fabric softener. If you still are not sure, then find the model number of your washer and google it with the term, "user manual". Most are available online as a PDF

I can't open some websides it seems like its going to open and it never does. I called AT&T and they change the modem it worked but than an hour later its doing the same thing. I have a wireless laptop...

It is likely that the site itself or the route to the site may be having problems. Typically, in absence of anti porn software or malware, the issue is rarely with you.

If you were to trace the signal from your modem, through all of the relays involved, to arrive at the desired site location, usually 15 to 35 jumps are involved, each with potential issues...and a person in another part of town CAN get to the desired site because of how the traffic is routed.

This routing is the essence of what makes the web faster, dynamic routing...... The way it works is the routing server is constantly checking for the best route to sites, and creates a routing table. Sometimes these tables corrupt, and it is tricky to find....

Too much detail, i know, but Google tracert and you can run the command.... (open the run window, which brings you to a dos prompt. Type tracert fixya.com (REPLACE Fixya.com with the site you are trying to get to....)

So run the command and see where the stopping point is and you have your issue. There are a lot of servers in California and that area, and hey, stuff breaks down....

So, I really, really doubt the modem has much to do with your issue, so my bet is it was just coinsidence that it worked, not modem.

I had an issue with routing and it took 2 weeks to get all of the links involved to look at the issue....It was the tracert data that they could not refute....so they eventually found the issue....

Here is what it takes for my machine to connect with Fixya.com:

More then likely its a compatibility issue with internet explorer 8. Do the following and it should solve the issue.

1. Open IE
2. Tools
3. Compatibity Settings
4. Add www.walmart.com to the compatibility list

Now try to view www.walmart.com.

Hi, Try this trick to get around Microsofts silly habits. [We all have come across them somewhere] Open "my documents" create a new file, name it to suit your video, plug your camera/player in and run the video into the created file. Then simply send the file as an attachment in an email. Ensure you tell the person you send it to exactly which program you used, so when they open it window's does not get confused. This can be done from MS PowerPoint/ MS Office and several others. Goodluck. mistyman
