If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher will not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

SOURCE: GE diswasher GSD4020Z02BB doesn't completely drain

rs, in the back under the screen is a piston nut assy. This is a common problem on these GE's. The seal on the assy. becomes warped or worn and when this happens we get water left in the tub after drain. It's an easy fix. The screen comes off and the pistion nut assy. simply unscrews. The part number is WD24X220. You can look it up on the net, inexpensive. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: oe code on LG dishwasher following garbage disposal replacement

Well, there is the plastic block in the garbage disposal where the drain hose goes on (as not every disposal will be attached to a dishwasher). Punch this out with a screwdriver, fish the plastic plug out with your hand and reattach the hose. You are good to go.

SOURCE: the dishwasher does not drain, i just replace my

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. I just came accross your post and immediately I thought, " drain plug in garb not punched out" this is very common when a new garb or dishwasher is installed..so much If I had a dollar for every one I saw or heard about I could be paid a couple of trip charges. If you haven't already done so, remove the drain hose from the garb and knock out the stop inside the spout. See your installation guide/owners manual ( for the garb/disposer ) if you still have it, that should show you "where" and "how". Let me know either way and I'll help further if necessary. Regards, Macmarkus :)

Doesn't drain

If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain pump might be defective. Test the pump motor with an Ohm meter. Drain pumps are not repairable, if it's defective it will need to be replaced.
HERE ARE SOME OTHER COMMON CAUSES:
H Drain impeller. The drain impeller is attached to the pump and pushes the water out of the dishwasher through the drain tube and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain impeller might be broken or worn out. Replace both the impeller and seal at the same time.
Drain Solenoid Kit. The drain solenoid kit might need to be replaced. The drain solenoid is an actuator that opens a flap to allow the water to drain.
Drain Valve. The drain valve can get clogged with debris and should be cleaned out if the dishwasher won't drain. If it seems clear of debris but won't actuate, it will need to be replaced.
Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer. If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the plug needs to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently, remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. These are the most common places to find an obstruction if the dishwasher won't drain.
Check Valve. The check valve might be stuck closed. The check valve is a small plastic device which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the valve gets stuck closed, it will prevent the water from draining. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher.
Check Ball. The check ball might be stuck. The check ball is a small plastic ball in the check valve which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the ball gets stuck, it will prevent the water from draining also. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher.

Belt, Water Pump Although few dishwashers have a water pump belt, if the dishwasher won't drain there might be a worn or broken water pump belt. After removing the lower kick panel the motor can be seen in the front, the water pump belt is on the bottom of the motor.

Frigidaire dishwasher has standing water that did not drain

Frigidaire dishwashers have two pumps. one for wash and one for drain. But if your
dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal and the disposal is not working then the
dishwasher will not drain. Otherwise the drain pump on the dishwasher has failed
OR the line itself is plugged (sometimes the port on the disposal gets gunked up and
will not allow draining). If you have replaced the disposal recently
the "knockout" may still be in the garbage disposal port.
One last thought, if you have
a small tomato paste can sized item next to the faucet that seems to serve no
purpose, this is called an "air gap". They can also get gunked up as well and prevent
draining of the dishwasher. They are inexpensive to replace or can be cleaned.
Hope this is helpful.

Replaced disposal and now dishwasher isnt draining

It sounds like you've done everything fine. I would disconnect the dishwasher drain line from the disposal, have a bucket ready and see if it will drain. It's possible that there is a plug or something else left in the disposal opening that is blocking the water. If the dishwasher won't drain with the hose off of the disposal, there is a problem with the dishwasher that has nothing to do with your disposal installation. Hope this helps and good luck!

Dishwasher not draining - spilling over floor

Disconnect the hose from the disposer and see if the dishwasher will drain into a bucket. If it does, there's still a blockage in the disposer nipple. If no water still comes out of the hose, you need to pull out the dishwasher to see if the hose disconnected from the dishwasher's drain itself.

Oe code on LG dishwasher following garbage disposal replacement

Hi. I just had the same trouble. Your garbage disposal comment there gave me an idea. The drain hose from your dishwasher likely goes to the garbage disposal and then out the drain. My hose had a little blockage at the joint where the hose goes into the disposal. I was able to clear it just by giving it a wiggle....all is well now.

Good luck.
