How do I fix "ink system failure oxc18a0206" message on my HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one?

Hopefully, this link will take you to the proper troubleshooting page.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03081973&lc=en&product=3204785&tmp_track_link=ot_search#N213

You'll click on the third plus sign on the page (+) because your message DOES include the words "ink system failure."

From there, you'll choose, by looking at the pictures, whether your printer has a removable print head.

You'll click on the appropriate answer -- yes it does, or no it doesn't,

Then, you'll identify which print cartridges your system uses, and THAT will take you to the proper troubleshooting steps for your printer's specific configuration.

The fix may be something you've already tried -- turning off the printer and unplugging it (but did you unplug it from BOTH the unit AND the wall, and then did you wait at least 15 seconds?), or the fix may be to service the printer.

Good luck! :)

Response by Ezrahite did not fit the printer but, rather, describe earlier HP printers with ink cartridges fitted on a carriage and movable. the HP C7280 has six fixed ink cartridges - immovable and not on...

ink system failure is pertaining to the printhead,it maybe clogged or already damaged ,usually printhead has life shelf,it can print up to 11000 copie after that symptom will show... you have to replace it it serves as a pen it is the one that submits ink to the paper ...also try to do power reset, turn off printer, unplug power cable at the back, unplug cable in the outlet wait 30 secs plug it back in then power on... you may call hp 18004746836 to order new printhead

Ink system failure on my HP C7280

Hello,

The 'ink system failure' is caused by air in the ink feed tubes. This problem caused by either a poorly refilled ink cartridge or by fully using all of the ink in the cartridge and then the unit sucks up air instead of ink. You will need to purge the air from the ink lines to clear the error. We have a step by step guide posted in an article on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/hp-printer-repair/ The purge will take about 5 -10 minutes to perform and sould get you back printing.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Same error code on HP 3210 HELP!

Hi,

Its an internal error which means that there is some issue with the ink delivery system of the unit. Since the ink delivery system cannot be replaced the whole unit needs to be replaced.

No reset or any other steps will resolve the issue.
