Water leaking from portable air conditioner

When the portable air conditioner is running the water condensation fills up the top reservior. However, it does not seem to go into the bottom reservior. Instead it overflows and leaks out of the back of the unit. water appears to be spitting out the back of the unit where the hot air is meant to come out and then leaking, also when unit is on de humidify no alarm sounds and water leaks again? we are on our 3rd one, all for similar problems! is this model a dud, and is dimplex refusing to admit it, let alone recall it?

My girlfriend bought a Sharp portable unit. We've drained it and still has leaked twice. Ruined the living room carpet, it did. (That was from Yoda)

I have 2 mini split AC's and water is leaking out the front of them.  It's level and the drainage hose can't be blocked because it's coming out the drainage hose also.  Sometimes the water will freeze and cause the AC to stop working.  They both start coughing and barley push out any cold air when this happens.

I will never buy another portable air conditioner. Mine caused water to go through the floor boards under the unit and it went through two floors into the basement.

Sounds like the drain line is blocked you would have to take this unit apart in order to check this. I would use a can of air to blow out the leakage. Also make sure the unit is level

The only solution is to stick to window air conditioners. Mine has the same problem. They are GARBAGE.

My Portable GE Air Conditioner (APE08AJ/APE08AK) needs a new water tank (the tank which needs to be emptied periodically while the unit is running). I'm looking for a cheap replacement. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced internet store at which I can purchase a new water tank?

I had a portable AC unit shut off after being on for a while to the point where I had to reset circuit breakers every day. The only way to fix it was by either running it to an outlet that wasnt going somewhere else. These units require a lot of power and will shut off when other things are plugged in with it or even on the same breaker.

I have an SA12059 Windchaser portable a/c. After using it and rolling it around, the top condensate tank drips lots of water. I tried to drain the bottom tank via the hose, but the top tank doesn't seem...

There is not actually a top tank, just a drip tray with little drain holes that become easily clogged. After removing the rear cover of the unit and cleaning thoroughly, you can use a can of air (like the ones to dust pc's) wth the little straw attachment to try to clear te clogged drain holes in the tray below the evaporator. If your unit froze up condensate may have overflowed into the fan area. Let the unit defrost, and run it in fan mode for awhile to dry this moisture out.

Unit will not run after about an hour until tank is drained -if a container is placed under the unit with plug out the unit will run like. An awful lot of water seems to come out of the unit.

Thing to remember about an Air Conditioner is it is transferring heat, so if you are in a hot humid enviroment you are going to condense more water, which will fill the tank up quicker.

If the tank has a spot to connect a hose to the tank, and you have a drain nearby, might be worth hooking a hose up.

a thought anyways on a fix

But the water is normal

My portable ac says to add water, how do i do that

There are 2 issues.
The first is that there is a water container in which you must fill water so the compressor cools. This is housed usually in the side. There is an automatic push panel on the side of the unit which when pushed opens the door. The container sits inside which needs to be taken out and filled daily.

The other is the water that condenses because of cooling the air. This settleas at the bottom of the ac. Bend down abd you will see a drain plug and a rubber blocker. Unscrew the drain plug and pull the rubber. All the condensed water will flow out. It can be messay so preferably drain in the bathroom.

I have an Amcor 12000M portable air con unit. How do I top up the water tank?

There is no need to top of the water tank. When the unit is running it collects condensation and fills the tank with water. When the tank is FULL the Full indicator will illuminate and the unit will shut OFF. You will ten need to drain the water from the rear drain hole.

To further assist you, in case you have misplaced your Owners Manual. I have included a link to it that you can download & print for future reference.

Fills with water, doesn't evaporate. Leaks. HAIER HPR09XC7

There is nothing to resolve. Your humidifier is working properly.

A humidifier works by condensing water out of air. This is the job of the cold coil, which you have found to have water dripping off. The Warm coil is not intended to re-evaporate the water, as this would just bring the relative humidity back to the origanal high level, rather, the warm coil is used to re-warm the air, going back into the room so the room does not get too cold. It is normal to have to empty the bucket and restart the process on a periodic basis.

Hi, I have a Convair TRB portable air conditioner and I dont have an instruction manual. I'm wondering about the drainage outlets on the rear of the unit. The top one (half way down) has a black tube...

No the bottom hole should not be plugged. the bottom hole is the drain for the condensation. If you plug that hole the water will fill up and damage the unit.

No water

If the air conditioner is putting out cold air, don't worry about it making water. You may not have enough moisture in the air to produce more water than it requires.

In some types of air conditioners, the water taken from the air is used to assist in cooling the condenser unit. The excess is run off.

Water leaking from portable air conditioner

First, make sure the unit is level. If so, you have a blockage or kink in the drain tube. Careful inspection should reveal any blockage, & you may be able to poke it thru with a piece of coathanger wire. Don't use excessive force, any block should be easily freed.
