Question about NEC Electra Elite 32D-1 Corded Phone

Re: Dropped Phone Calls

Hello, we have a NEC Electra Elite 192 in our office. We have been experiencing dropped calls, both incoming and outgoing calls. We have a T1 for our voice with 4 redundant copper lines as well. Our T1 circuit has been checked out as clean.

Whatelse could be the problem? A year ago we had replaced the T1 card in the phone system as well. Back then we were gettting static on the line. That did resolve the problem for that.

Any suggestions??

Thanks, Lisa

Re: re: Dropped Phone Calls

How was the T1 tested? If they did it remotely and ran a typical 5-15 minute test, it may have been while the circuit was clean. Today's circuit equipment can mask errors on the user end that their SwitchRoom monitoring cannot see. Many things can cause this problem. They should have a tech on-site to pull the records from the SmartJack and do a head-to-head test. There can be errors coming in that only an on-site tech with the proper test equipment can see.

I have 7 incoming lines, I can receive calls on all seven, but I am not able to make outbound calls from any of those lines. I have 6 extensions, out of those six extensions only one is able to make and...

Do you have actual appearance of each line, or just a placement button for calls received, a Call Arrival key, or car key. You can't grab a car key to make a call, the outgoing calls just land on them after you dial 9 or whatever the code is. Anyway, that would have to be changed in system programming, an actual tech would have to look at that. Or the phones are restricted and need a code entered to bypass the restriction. I have no idea how those codes might be set up.

How do change the outgoing "Night Mode" message in the Voice Mail System on NEC Electra Elite DTU 32D-1?

If you are using an Active Voice product (typical w/ NEC) you need to change the hours of operation on the voice mail system. "Night Mode" only changes the ringing characteristics of the phone system and where calls ring, not the greetings that play on the voice mail. The voice mail plays a particular greeting (Day/Night/Holiday) based on the time of day specified in the schedule. The system administrator for the voice mail would have to make this change.
