The repair parts list manual call it a "door lock/switch USCC". Is this the same as your "wax motor switch?

  • chazem May 11, 2010

Ok, now it spins fast but how do I change the "wax motor switch"?

Is there a reason the door lock light is on as if it was properly engaged?

can I use the washer as usual until i can get and replace the part?

I assume I just leave the test connector in place until then...

    thanks for your help

If front loader washer quit spinning, check the wax motor switch. You can make a temporary fix by providing a short on the door lock contact. The Kenmore 417.29042992 front load washer provides a test connector that's readily accessible behind the front lower panel. Insert a wire between connector pins 1 and 2 (red and white/red color wires) and your washer should spin during the spin cycle. Hopes this helps.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

My Whirlpool Duet washer was out of balance and almost fell over during the spin cycle. The washer was shaking and the front door came open during the spin cycle. Now the front door will not latch and stay...

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Try unplugging the washer and see if the latch disengages. I'm also wondering if the cycle was interupted (power loss) and a restart is necessary.
