Question about Uniden CXAI5198 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Handheld won't communicate with the base

I've tried several different methods in trying to get the base to communicate with the hand held and vice a versa. For example, the suggestion Uniden gives in the manual, disconnected the battery, holding down the star and lb. key at the same time, while reconnecting the battery, depressing multiple keys at once.

Thank-You in advance

I bought a new system because I wanted to replace my handset, which was damaged, but wanted to keep some old messages on my original system. But the new handset won't communicate with the base, either in the new cradle or the old. Ideas?

I have the same problem and it has happened infrequently several times. you probably have to deregister the handset and re-register it and rest the base and handheld to communicate since my model is different from yours there may be differences in how to go about it but for my model the suggestion is as follows:

go to www.uniden.com for customer support here is a direct link to some frequentlt asked questions http://www.mycusthelp.com/uniden/supportfaq.asp?sSessionID=&lstFilter_a=&lstFilter_b=&lstFilter_c=&txtCriteria=hanset+won%27t+connect+to+base&optcond=2&iStartCount=1

Try resetting the phone system by using the following steps:

1) Enter the "System Reset" menu, then "Deregister HS" submenu.
2) Press volume/up or down arrow keys to select the handset ID to be de-registered from the list, then press the OK soft key.
3) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone. When de-registration is complete, "Deregistration Complete" appears.

4) After de-registering the handset, move to "Replacing the Base Setting" below. When you go through the deregister procedure if you get "out of range", That is okay. Go ahead and go to the next step.

Replacing the Base Setting
1) Enter the "System Reset" menu, then "Replacing Base" submenu. "Do you want to replace Base?" appears.

2) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a conformation tone. The base information will be deleted. When replacing the base is complete, "Please Register" appears, register the handset to the new base.

If your handset is reading out of range. Check the the main base and make sure you unit has power. This can be done by placing the handset in the main base to see if the charge in use light comes on.
If your main base isn't getting power please make sure the ac adapter is plugged in and is warm to the touch. If not the ac adapter would be damaged.
To resolve out of range follow the below steps.
Press and hold the end key.
Press and hold the # key.

Release the keys and select replacing base and press select.
You will see Replace base?
Select Yes and press select.
Now place the handset on the base andHandheld won't communicate with the base - 0.gifhould register to the base and allow for calls to be made.

THE CHUCK WON'T TURN WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING. YOU CAN HOLD IT IN YOUR HAND AND FEEL IT CLICKING AND HEAR IT WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT?

The DCD950 drill has a chuck that does not require the reverse-threaded lock screw. It is put on with lok-tite and a good deal of torque. It is hard to remove without the Dewalt vice tool to hold it but not impossible. Some can be removed by tightening the chuck in a vice and, using the drill handle for leverage, apply steady, even, strong pressure until it breaks free. Using this method usually bends the part of the chuck in the vice making it useless. Another reason for the chuck not turning when the motor is turning is a broken transmission. If the chuck works properly in tightening down and releasing bits, your problem may be in the transmission. If you go to http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ and search for your model number you can look at a breakdown of your drill and what you're looking at to replace the transmission.

Taking apart the hand held remote won't serve any real purpose as none of the parts inside are replaceable. Since you have 3 different units, with 3 different hand held remote. I'm wondering, if perhaps, you're using the wrong remote on that one unit. As each one has a different remote code.
In addition, I have learned from experience, that if the display screen on the hand held works, the problem is not in the hand held. Now, that's not to say, Operator Error can't play a role in it. But, most times, it's the receiver in the unit, that may be causing the problem. Or the hand held is to far away or something is blocking the signal in between.

Almost every appliance we sell, has a radio frequency remote control. The most problems we incur is with weak or dead batteries or operator error. The problem with batteries is that you don't now how long they sat in a warehouse, before making to a retail outlet and then how long they sat on the shelves there, before they were sold. They may have enough power to activate the handheld remote, but not enough to transmit a strong signal. So, check the strength of the new batteries you installed.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My uniden ltd 715 receives from my handheld but when I transmit to handheld it just buzzes.

Just to clarify something, you say that your hand-held VHF can receive a clear transmission from the Uniden, now which of the radios are buzzing, the Uniden or the HH?. If it's the hand-held buzzing try transmitting on the low watt on the Uniden, get some distance from the radio, because if the hand-held are to close to the on the Uniden on high watt you will get a buzzing, the signal are overpowering the receiver of the hand-held, try getting the minimum of 30 feet away. Good luck.

I jus was wondering, can the cb radio and the handheld radio transmit on the same channel? Im a security officer and im interested in purchase a cb radio so we can use it at work but i dont know if its...

CB radios and hand-held CB radios can operate on the same channel and be in contact with each other. Other hand-held radios do not operate on the same frequencies and even though they may have channel numbers the channels have different frequencies and will not operate to CB radios.

How do you remove a key chuck

Open the jaws all the way.

Peer inside, find the flat blate screw head. THIS SCREW IS LEFT HAND THREAD - NOT STANDARD RIGHT HAND THREAD.

Put your drill into a vice and snug it down gently. Put a flat blade screw driver bit into the slot. Tap the screw driver with a mallet several times. Try turning the screw driver as you tap gently. Once it breaks free, remove as usual.

With the locking screw out, put your key into the chuck and tap tthe key it to loosen the chuck. The chuck should be held onto the shaft with right hand threads ... some are different. Try each direction, gently, until you break it free.

I hope this helps you

If so much has happened to your handheld then the only thing left to be done is a reinstall of the firmware, as that is the only solution to a corrupt firmware because of the power glitch while it was doing something. The glitch has corrupted the firmware and thats how it needs a reinstall. Nothing serious but such things do happen i electronics.

Try right click on the Hot-Sync icon, on the Taskbar and select Custom then select Address book and change the Action to Synchronise the files. You might have to use Windows Explorer to view your contact. I'm not 100% sure about this one but try it anyway.
