Ink replacement fault

Lexmark x1180 printer i have replaced the ink cartridges and an error comes up saying no communication help ??

Did you use Lexmark brand cartridges? Sounds like the printer can't read the chip in the cartridge. Try cleaning the contact pads behind the cartridges and in the carriage with the eraser on a pencil.

I changed my ink but it wont let me print it keeps saying i need to change my ink why?


What is the version of your ink cartridge? It could be that it's not seated properly in the cartridge carrier. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet in the wall to reset it. When the printer turns on, open the printer cover and reinsert one cartridge first. Close the cover. If no error, open the printer cover and reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. You could also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

Just loaded refilled ink cartridges but it says error 1102 but as I cant find my user manual I am stuck - please help

Did you replace with Generic Ink or Lexmark Ink Cartridges? See your Printer's Documentation and check to see if your printer will only use Lexmark ink.

Lexmark Z705 printer. I put in new ink cartridges


The BEST slution is GENUINE original cartridges. There is an eclectronic communicator on the cartridges and that "TELLS" the printer thet the current cartridges are not GENUINE ones. Untill you have replaced these cartridges with the GENUINE ones you will always get these error messages

Thanks for the posting in FIXYA.

Is it attached to your HP Laptop in Network through LAN Cable?

Does any flag shown in the Device Manager list?

Try this -->

Go to Start -->Printers and Faxes..

Now, right click on your Lexmark printer icon and select "Properties"..

Click on the "Port" tab along the top..

What port does it say you are using??

Try after unplug and replug the cables.

Try cleaning the copper plates and install back again if the same message pops up try single cartridge if the error exits with 2 cartridges ,replace the cartridge as lexmark cart has 1 year warranty..

Lexmark x1180 blank ink not coming through


You can refill cartridges only a certain number of times.
Check the copper contacts and see if they look like new. any amount of wear and they wont work anymore. That being said, All printer manufacturers say to buy new and not refill.Maybe that is a moneymaker for them, however, I have never had good luck with refilled cartridges.

Clean the contacts on the cartidge and printer ( open the replace ink door wait for the printhead to come to center and turn off power) if that does not work then replace cartridge, it might be a recycled one that they did not chane the chip.
