Remove the two screws that hold on the front panel. Unplug the wire that connects to the ignition light. Now look about low center for a small plastic cover held on by two screws. Remove the cover, all three wires noting which wire went where, and remove both ceramic probes. There is a paper thin gasket that tears easy so be very careful. Take a small green scrub pad and polish the ends of the probes. Take a pair of pliers and adjust the bull-horn probes a little closer. Reinstall and test fire. If it continues, you will need to have the gas pressure tested.

My Rinnai energysaver 557ftr is showing error code 12. It will turn on, the fan works and it makes a bubbling noise and the flame lights but then immediately goes out and the heater stops.

It is a Gas Appliance and needs repair by a qualified gas registered technician. It is a generic code for 'no flame'.

Working on a N1321-ASME unit installed in a Taco Bell. Getting error code 21. Unit gas pressure is at 8.5wc and manifold pressure spikes to 2 when it come on but unable to see what it remains at because...

I recently had a similar problem with my N-132M-ASME heater. The unit would come on, then shut down and flash Error Code 21. According to the owners manual, that code indicates the unit is not getting enough air. I tried vacuuming the unit, blowing it our with air and checking to be sure the exhaust lines were clear. Nothing helped. A service technician came out and recommended I descale the unit and clean the burner. I did this but the problem did not go away. He also suggested I replace the Burner Sensor. It's not an expensive part, around $20. I ordered the part and have not had a problem since I installed it. Hope this helps.

C4 error 12, cleaned the burner assy, filled the p...

I have the same problem since i bought this stupid water heater, it sucks. I had there service men come out and all they did was clean the burner sensor. Few months later i had the same problem. Then I called customer service and they tried saying that it was the exhaust what was causing the problem. What i found out is that the flame SENSOR and not the BURNER is the problem. Remove the burner and clean/scratch of particles of the tip of the flame sensor, it may look like its clean but you just have to scratch the head off clean with a small metal brush. Then reinstall the burner back and you will be fine, but just for a few months. Then you will have to do the same all over again. Hope this will solve your problem temporally.

Tankless water heater (Paloma) Has C2 11 error

I had this problem with the C2 11 error code. My unit is 1.5 years old. I called Paloma and they emailed me an 11 page document to clean the burners. I am not an HVAC but I got the feeling that's who the instructions were for. Very difficult but you can do it if you're handy. You basically take apart 1/2 the unit, be carfull not to lose any screws and label all the little brackets that come off. It took me 2-3 hours to get to the burners. I used a can of air (for keyboards-electronics) to blow on the burners and clear any build up. After putting it back together (carefull to make sure the 3 gas tubes make a seal when re-installed) the unit works. I did this today so I'm not sure the unit will still work in a week/month. I am dreading having to do this every year to keep the unit running.
