Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator
Water is coming into the water dispenser. A few weeks ago, we noticed a clicking or a knocking sound in our ice maker, but we continued to get ice. Now we do not get ice or a clicking sound. What could wrong? How can a novice troubleshoot this?
We are having the same problem with our ice maker for a Kenmore Cold Spot, model # 57562791. We just moved in to our new home and this was the refrigerator that was left behind. Looks like it is almost 10 years old, built in 1998. The ice maker was working fine for a couple of weeks when we moved in but then started making an usually loud clicking noise and stopped making ice. After I turned it off and back on it started making ice again for about a week. However, just recently did not hear any noise and will not make anymore ice even after resetting on and off switch. We are still able to get water from the water dispenser with no problems. Any suggestions?
My Kenmore was also not making ice about 2 years ago, but everything else worked. It seemed that the tube directly inside the freezer where it was filling the ice trays was frozen. My husband used a hair dryer to unthaw the tube. It's been working every since. Also, my sister had a Kenmore Elite, with the same problem but her husband didn't know what the cause. So they also tried the hair dryer, and now it works fine.

Water is dripping out of the ice maker and into the ice holder causing ice buildup at the bottom of the ice container.

I have a Kenmore coldspot side by side. I took the top shelf off in the freezer. Didn't have to unplug the side by side. Took the cube tray out. You can see the ice in the tray on the left side. I melted some of the ice with a hair dryer. Then I could pull out the cubes with my hands - once i started doing that the white arm with teeth started moving again - you might push it a little bit to move it along. So far there is no clicking. I read somewhere else it helps to turn your freezer a notch warmer to trick it a bit so it doesn't replicate the same problem so I'll try. Maybe the motor is weak I hope not but so far this seems to be a temporary solution.

This is a Whirlpool made Kenmore there fore from what your telling me about your ice maker I'm pretty sure it's the ice maker motor module. If you take the cover off the ice maker you will see a large white gear in the center is a little two headed pin to keep the gear in place, if the pin is broke or twisted in any way that is your problem and you will need a new icemaker motor module. Check first and let me know then I will tell you how to install it, it's VERY easy and only takes 15mins. Hit me up when you find out hope I helped.

Just above the tray that holds the ice cubes is a wire bar. If the bar is down, it will make ice. If the bar is up, it will stop making ice. When there is enough Ice in the tray, when the bar comes downm, it will hit the ice. If the bar is not completely down, no ice will be made.
I bet the bar is stuck, or you don't have a water supply to make ice (or it's plugged - de-ice the freezer).
