Cannot dis-mount the drum to change break pad

Try to change the break pad, but the drum cannot be dis-mounted.
The drum is loose, but it seems that there is some mechanism to prevent it come out. Is this true?

Does anyone know how to dis-mount the back wheel drum to change the break pad?

Thanks.

I made a puller and pulled it out. Then, I found out that problem was caused by the self gap adjuster that is malfunctioning to lock the drum.

I have an 02 focus. Something popped and later the rear tire on the drivers side began smoking. I can't get the drum off to see what happened.

Take apart the latch at the rear, and you should be able to swing the window open and access the screws on the hinges.

Knocking sound

One possible cause is a drum that is out of round and / or loose brake shoes. Another could be a loose backing plate or suspension mount.
Have you had the brakes checked ?

How to remove brake drums buick

Frequently they are bonded with rust to to the piece where the lug nuts are mounted. Sometimes they are held because of worn down brake shoes scoring the drum (the rivets of the shoes cut grooves into the drums.) There could be a loose piece that is wedged in. The most common trick mechanics use to break the rust bond is to hit the drum with a hammer between two of the studs (being careful not to damage the threads.) If it is because of scoring the adjuster will have to be backed off till the rivets are not extended into the drum.

Possible tranny or engine mount. Check bushings. Check brake pad backing plates (loose), check brake pad movement (add shims), but most likely mounts. you need to torque the engine while an assistant checks for bad mounts.

82 f250 motormounts

You can try to soak them with wd-40 and let them sit overnight; it may penetrate enough to allow them to break with a cheater bar attached to your ratchet. Next I would try to use air impact on them. it may be difficult to access them, but you can use swivels and extentions. Last, cut them; either with a torch, or grinder. You can purchase new motor mounts from NAPA, and they're usually in stock.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck with your repair.

I need to change my rear break pads and also my emergency brake will not dissengage once put on. How do i fix both?

My hyundai had the emergency brake bracket (mounted to the back of the caliper) rust solid. I used rust eater to get it to slightly break loose. I eventually had to replace both calipers. It is a very consistant problem. My new ones need alot of attention now as well I covered them in caliper paint to help with the rusting. The pads are very simple replacement 2 bolts on the back of the caliper. Remove the pads then screw back in the piston with a import tool from any auto parts store put pads back in, put back on the caliper.

2003 Jetta 2.0 97,000

that would be a likely yes if engine moves while in reving up it means the motor mounts are wareing out you should get these replaced as soon as possible its quite a simple proceedure also since your replaceing motor mounts have them replace tranny mounts even if those arent bad its a good idea to have stability around the vehicles engine without it you this is what could happen
example tranny mounts break now your whole car had been jard loose and theres more to fix and more of the same motor mounts to replace now paying double for the same work
