Vista laptop and canon pixima mp610 printer

I just got a new canon pixima mp610 printer and cant get the driver to install on my vista laptop. I first installed it successfully on my windows XP desk top then when I try to install it on the vista laptop it almost completes the instillation process but then indicates it cant detect the printer and the proccess fails. I am using the same usb cable that worked with the XP, the XP is not conected, the vista does detect the printer for a few seconds then it looses it

Go to the site listed below and download the drivers for vista, on that page you will have to use the pulldown menu and choose your operating system and it will show you a program that is updated for vista. Use that program to install the printer on your laptop.
Hope this helps

I have a Pixma MG6150 Multifunction device. PC is sadly running Vista SP2. Trying to set it up wirelessly. Software installed perfectly on a Windows 7 pc but on this laptop it returns an error message...

Try this,
1) Go to Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes
2) Right click the "Pixma MG6150 Printer" and choose property
3) Go to the Ports page (From the top menu), and assigned to port FILE: it should be assigned to a Canon Pixma MG6150 Network port
4) Click button, and select "Canon Pixma MG6150" type, and then new port
5) The "Canon Pixma MG6150" printer will be associated with this new port, automatically
6) Click OK

Hope it can help & good luck.

All I can find for my Canon iP5000 is an add-on module for Vista 64. What driver must I install before I add it on?

What you need to do is to prepare your printer...power up, ink in, paper in, and then plug the printer into your computer.

Vista has the basic driver for your printer. After Vista detects and installs the driver then you can download the add-on and install it.

Here is a reference for you from the Canon Support site:

iP5000 using Vista

I'm not sure if that link will work as is. If it does not, go to: Canon iP5000 Support then enter vista in the Knowledge Base search block and click Search. The top result should be "Does My product Support Windows Vista?" Click on the red link for the information.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I am considering buying a new computer. I have a

The good news is that your Canon iP8500 printer is Windows Vista compatible. Driver page for them is here:

More good news, the Epson Perfection 1650 scanner is also compatible with Windows Vista.

It would also appear that your HP Laser Jet 5mp printer is compatible with Windows Vista:

Whether or not to get a Dell or HP is a preference thing. The biggest thing you have to ask yourself is, how much are you wanting to spend on a new system? Both vendors are fairly comparable as far as hardware and support. The biggest thing I should mention is that, ensure that when you buy your system, to tell whomever you are buying it from that you need Windows Vista 32 bit. Not all of your components were compatible with Vista 64 bit.
Best of Luck and hope you have lots of fun with your new system!

Instaling network printer from main computer

On the Vista computer, right click on printer, go to sharing tab, click on Additional Drivers button. On the next screen you need to select Windows XP.

This will ensure that whenever a print request is queued from any computer that runs on Windows XP, it will process the request on the Vista machine.

You should also try to ping the printer. You should also check if the computer is able to share files with Vista machine.

Hi Duff

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

Canon Printer Smart Base MPC600F driver for Vista

Click to Access canon site
Choose Europe/...
Choose UK
Choose Support
Choose Software Download in the left column
Beside MultiFunctionals Choose SmartBase MPC600F

Choose OS and Language to limit list and Click Submit

Unfortunately there appears to be no Vista Driver available from Canon. IF and is said IF it does eventually become available this would be how to find it.

This page offers information as to vista compatibility but I saw no news about pending drivers for inkjet multifunctional devices. There were some projections for laser multifunctional devices.
