Re: jvc av36260

Check the horizontal out and the flyback, if its good check the vertical out. if it does it again the crt has a leakage or busted.

Power light blinks and no picture

No picture - screen is empty. Sound is ok
Check IC101 (BA7630F), if video signal comes to input (pin 1) but not present at output (pin 14) then replace this IC
No picture and sound, only a high pitch sound at switch on
Remove horizontal transistor and measure the resistance across any two pins. This value should be no less than 200ohms
Picture fades away few seconds after start-up till no picture. Sometimes no picture at all. Sometimes picture OK for longer. Sound unaffected.
Faulty joints on CRT pcb. Cracked solder joints at tube socket connections on CRT circuit board. Caused variable supply to CRT heaters. Resolder all socket pins to pcb.

My picture is cutting in and out!

JE, I just repaired one of these on Friday last week. Video on the right side was darker than the left and quite noticeable. After about an hour of trace testing I got out my trusty ESR meter and found C545 35v/220uf had a extremely high equivilent series resistance. replacing that cap restored normal picture. What I'm trying to get to if I wasn't so long winded is, it sound to me like it's probably cap related and not a relatively expensive repair. Take it to a good reputable shop though.. If you're not sure how to find one goto: and input your info. That's the National Electronic Service Dealer's Assn. Kind of like going to the AMA to find a doctor. Take the set in your self too and you'll save a few bucks there. if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask: 306-642-4993 Good Luck Bill

Faded Picture

I would have to say it does sound like the CRT is reaching its end. The thing that points this out that the picture gradually gets a little bit better as it warms up. It most likely isn't worth the cost to fix it.
