Andrew Scharlach,
Are you changing the rotation using the ctrl+alt+right arrow. left arrow or down arrow? That is how i change the rotation on the screen. If needed lower the resolution in the display settings in control panel.

My monitor shows nothing but a white screen

This is typically a sign of a video card that is not working right. The other possibility with ViewSonic is that the monitor went bad. MNy best advice is find someone with a known working computer and hook the monitor up and see if it works or not. That way, you can determine if it is the monitor or the computer. Also, the VX2255 may be under warranty. A visit to will help you determine if they can repair/replace (if your test finds the screen to be bad.) Be sure to un plug the monitor from the wall; wait a moment, and plug back in to determine if a power blip may have caused an issue too.

Best of luck.

I had to reinstall my Viewsonic monitor after getting a new hard drive. Now the screen shows everything is a horizontal stretched mode. How do I get it to normal aspect ratio?

It seems like the display resolution was not set to the optimal resolution for your monitor.

To correct this, follow this guide. I am assuming you have Windows XP.

1) Navigate to the Control Panel in Microsoft Windows by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.

2) In the Control Panel window, open Display.

In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Display icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.

3) In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.

4) Slide the Screen resolution slider all the way to the right for your optimal resolution.

5) Click the OK or Apply button to confirm the changes. If prompted, follow any additional on screen directions.

NOTE: If the text appears too small, go back to step 4 and try a different position on the slider until you get it how you like it.

Good luck on solving your computer problem.

My viewsonic VA1701wb monitor having streching problem for images

The native resolution for that LCD is 1440x900. If you do not see that resolution in your display properties you can try to update the video driver. If it is still not displayed as an option you may need a newer graphics card. Many newer low end card support this widescreen resolution, so if you need to replace the card you will not need to spend a lot of money.
