Re: cleaning web low message

Hello Pene."pinetree1" is absolutely right. But may I elaborate in an effort to help you avoid your copier going down. The "cleaning web " is a consumable item that in essence is used up kinda like a roll of toilet paper. As it is used there reaches a point where the copier "knows" that it is close to the end and warns the customer before the roll has run out, to give them enough warning time to make arrangements for the roll/web to be replaced before the copier sees a second indication that the web is running out. The second prompt will result in an error code and the machine will shut down.Typically the copier continues to run appoximately 2000 copies after the "web low" message is displayed. This varies depending on the model and the customers usage. I am sorry I cant "fixya" but at least you have better understanding of what is occurring. I have no way of knowing how mechanically inclined you are, as I might try to walk you thru the replacement procedure. And if you have access to a new cleaning web and feel inclined to have me help you I will gladly do so. I just wanted to give you a few more details, and perhaps keep the "copier dude " from raping you by telling you that you need all kinds of stuff. For a trained tech it is quite simple. My e mail is if you need further help. If you would be so kind as to give me a decent rating when you provide feedback to "FixYA" I would be grateful. ..................SPINAL

When I go to print my printer says Color cartridge low, so I put a new one in and I get the same message. After an hour I went and returned the cartridge(thinking it was that and I put the New New one in...

It may be a bad contact between the cartridges chip and the contacts inside the printer.
They can be cleaned very gently inside, by using a cotton bud, and suitable cleaning fluid, such as either foam spray cleaner, or a professional product like SERVICOL.
You will only need a tiny amount to clean off the contacts if that is the problem. they sometimes just get fussy when a small amount of ink residue, or dust, gets in the way.
If the ink is still reported as low, it may be an actual fault in the printer unfortunately, stopping it reading the ink amount correctly.
But by far the most common problem is just needing a clean inside.
Good luck.

I have a MX6200N with a Maintainence code of -FK3. What does it mean?

FK3 means that the fuser web cleaning counter has reached the specified limit. Replace the web and reset the counter.

If you are getting the FK3 message, get ready to do a PM. Those messages will be popping up soon.

I need cleaning instructions for the HP laser jet 4 plus

First vacuum out all the excess toner you can. Then clean off the feed rollers with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol. As far as the low toner message is concerned, I don't think you can bypass it. You can gently shake the cartridge to redidtribute the toner and temporarily bypass the message, but when the toner level drops again, you'll get the message.

Color cartridge problem

The first thing I thought of when I read your message, was whether or not your replacement cartridges were produced by HP or by another company. Also, was it a brand new cartridge or a refill? While buying ink cartridges from another vendor or "recycled" cartridges may save a buck or two, you can't always rely on the quality of the printouts they produce. If this is the case, try using an HP color ink cartridge and see if that produces better print quality.

If you are using HP ink cartridges, there might be an issue with the contact between the cartridge and carriage. It's an electrical connection and if the contacts get dirty, it can affect print quality...sometimes drastically.

Unfortunately, doesn't have a web page dedicated just to cleaning these contacts. Fortunately, they included those instructions in the following document:

Replacing the Print Cartridges

When the web page opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and locate the task, "Fixing error messages that appear after changing a cartridge". This will contain instructions on how to clean those contacts. See if this helps.

If all else fails, try going to the following web page:

Correcting Print Quality Problems

This is sort of a "catch all" web page with a large collection of print quality diagnostic and repair techniques. If you've gotten this far wtihout a solution, perhaps something on this page will help.

Good luck.

Replacing the cleaning belt

the belt is part of the fixing assy, the only part that gets hot. The fixing web (cleaning belt) is due to be replaced, an engineer must be called to change it, they are quite cheap, the web has a copy count counter attached in the siftware to it, this will get around it for a short time, but you will get an error code when the belt runs out.

Try this to reset the belt counter and stop the message, enter service mode BY PRESSING "additional functions" then 2 and 8 at the same time and additional functions, all fairly quickly if it doesnt enter service mode, press the yellow reset button after each failed try. Once your in follow this,

(COPIER>COUNTER>MISC>FIX-WEB) HIGHLIGHT AND PRESS C FOR CLEAR ON THE CONTROL PANEL. This will reset the counter and stop the messages for now, until the belt run out anyway (which wont be long)

Hope this helps
