Nikon DX AF-SNIKKOR 18-55MM 1:3.5-5.6G11 ED auto focus don't work

Nikon DX AF-SNIKKOR 18-55MM 1:3.5-5.6G11 ED had a wide angle adapter screwed on the end and taken off now auto focus doesn't work easily fixed or not? Worked fine before I have a 55-20 mm and the lens looks to be screwed in further and it works with the camera a D40.

If you're looking at the camera without a lens on it, there should be a little flat protrusion in the lower left. Make sure that it is protruding and not obstructed.

The focus ring won't turn.

The focus ring on that lense will lock when the AF switch on the lens is on auto. Move the switch to manual and it will release the focus ring.

Nikon D50 with Nikon DX 18-55 lens will not focus

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to autofocus and take pictures with any other lens, then it means that your problem lies with the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning. I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens.

Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,
Andrew
