Question about Whirlpool DUL300 XTL Built-in Dishwasher

Dishwasher won't start - non responsive

Close the door, hit a button to start and nothing. No Lights as if there is no power. Checked the fuse up by the control board and it's ok. Checked the black wire going to the fuse and there is power. Any ideas? Looks like it's the control board but hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for the response. I checked one of the switches with the meter and seemed ok. I'll check the other. There seems to be some intermittent behavior. With the breaker closed (power on) it started by itself. The indicator lights didn't seem right. Played with the buttons for a while and I seemed to get it to start a normal wash cycle but after a while it just quit. All the light are off. Does that sound like a bad control board? Thanks for your help.

CHECKING KEYPAD OPERATION
A rapidly blinking LED over one of the keys of the keypad (or sometimes a "dead" keypad/console)
To determine if the control or keypad is faulty, do the following test:
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Open the dishwasher door.
3. Open console and disconnect the keypad ribbon connection from the control (at P1).
Make sure all other connections are made.
4. Put console back together. Do not close the dishwasher door.
5. Plug in dishwasher or reconnect power.
6. Wait 5 seconds.
7. Close dishwasher door.
8. Monitor the control's response:
If the control is OK (no longer sees shorts with the keypad unplugged),
it will respond by turning on a Drain Motor for 2 minutes.
Check and/or replace the keypad if the control responds OK.
If the control is not OK (still sees shorts with the keypad unplugged),
then the drain motor will NOT respond and will remain off.
If no response, replace the control.

If the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive).
To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

high temp wash
heated dry
high temp wash
heated dry

all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).
I Hope this works for you.

Dishwasher won't run

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

Tried to run dishwasher but it wouldn't turn on -

If you have no power and no lights at all,you may have blown the fuse. There is a non-resettable fuse in the top right corner of the control board.Remove the 6 screws across the top of the console panel to access the board and fuse.
You can check the fuse for continuity with a meter set for ohms or continuity. Al;so check the door switch below the open/close lever for continuity.Check incoming power under the dishwasher were the incoming power wires connect.

Will not start. Checked pwr to the plug. Is there a reset button? It worked just fine yesterday. Door latch is clean and tight.

HI, there are four problem spots that i recommend checking. these are the most common hot spots for a non responsive dishwasher. Check each area thoroughly to address this issue.

1. No power to the dishwasher
Make sure there's power getting to the dishwasher. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the dishwasher (inside the junction box, behind the bottom kick panel), if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch
Replace if defective.

3. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

4. Selector switch
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
