Compaq Presario v2000 having problems powering on

The power button will flash for a second and then nothing. The computer does not turn on. I can get the Compaq Presario v2000 lab top to turn on though by either taken the battery out or resetting the battery back in. When I checked in the power options the battery seems to be unrecognizable sometimes and other time it looks find. What is the problem? Is it the motherboard component that is having trouble recognizing the battery that is going bad or is it the battery itself that is faulty? Please help

Hi!

i'd say first try a known working ac adapter and if that Working AC adapter works and the system detects the battery well, then it could be the ac. If not then try to borrow a working battery to get your final conclusion. if the working battery still doesnt work properly, then it could be the system motherboard. If battery and ac adapter (working) are not available, then check the BIOS and see if it really doesnt detect the battery. try flashing the BIOS and still if that fails, then replace the battery.

hope this helps!

Regards,

Karlox

Computer will not start

Disconnect battery and unplug from power, test for voltage on power cord and re-insert, hold down power switch. If nothing try battery without power cord. Still nothing (no lights, no sounds) then it may need system board replacing.
