The zenith xbs444 system works for 1 minute then does the same thing-3 blips powers down. Tried Line 1 Audio. for xbox live and using xbox with just a cd game in it Tried channnel 3 with dvd. There are 3 bleep noises then the TV goes to a blank screen and the system seems to freeze there are no led information on the systems screen
    Trouble shooting steps:
1). Unplugged for 30 minutes actually overnite.
This should have reset the defaults.
Plugged it in System said Hello.
Changed to L1 Turned on TV -Channel 3. Powered on Xbox went to XBox live within 2 minutes 3 blips of death Tv goes to Blank gray screen.
2). Unplugged for 15 minutes Powered says Hello
Channel 3 Tv placed a DVD in starts to play 1.5 minutes 3 blips of death Tv goes to Blank gray screen.
3). Turned off Charter cable box reset Tv to channel 3 unplugged system for 15 minutes powered it on placed a dvd inside plays for 2 minutes then 3 blips of death Tv goes to Blank gray screen.

Emailed information to a local Zenith Repair center Bloomington MN to determine if issue can be fixed vs bringing in for repair.

Will post results if they are recieved

my system started doing the same thing this morning. I was using the system pluged into my cable tv and then the receiver just went off ,no line one or anything else. I even had the TV off and was listening to the radio on it and it just quit, .. I leave it off and then turn it back on ,it will work for about five minutes then it quits. It then shuts its self off... I have already tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. I have used a can of air to blow any dust of the inside of it. Nothing works.

This unfortunately is a known issue. I have the same problem. Another user on this forum suggested changing the filter capacitors. I'm not a electronics person, so i don't even know how. But the part itself is $2 so I'm going to try and figure it out.

    Thanks

I'm having the same exact problem. The system has worked like a gem for the past 3-4 years and suddenly two days ago started shutting down. We have tried the tricks mentioned below as well, with no luck!

try using a CD cleaner disk..

How old is the system?
DO CDs work when you try them?
Put a disk in... remembering the position it was in..
Then try to play the disk...
Eject if it does not play and look to see if it has moved to a different position...
If not, there is a motor problem or the laser is not sensing the disk being there.

Have you ever opened up the main box of the system?
Has anyone else been inside it?

If yes, then maybe it is time to do it again to observe if there is movement of the laser pickup..

It could be overheating, have you checked how warm it is? Is it in the open. Zenith systems seem to have a lot of problems associated with them

You should always read the owners manual to familiarize, yourself with the operations of the unit. This will solve a lot of simple operation problems and hook-up problems. The manuals are written for this purpose and they contain useful information. They also contain diagrams of setups, this make it very easy to visualize the set-up procedures. They also contain troubleshooting pages that can help you with minor problems that may occur during your set- up and operation of the unit in the system. The manual also has useful information about the the company and its services. My Sony DVD/VCR combo will play cds but not dvds. I took the top of the player off and I can see that the dvd spins but it won't play. It used to play everything very well but just stopped working...

Please clean laser lens with good quality cotton bud gently and check dvd disc playback, if still does not play, replace optical lens block.
Let me know model number of your Sony DVD-VCR combo to provide you optical laser block part number info.
Thanks.

Not likely. They probably just need to be cleaned and re-alligned. Rates vary, but our shop charges $20 to do that.
