Use only 1-1GB stick. xp reacts really funny to 2-1GB sticks, I had this problem before and it works fine with 1 stick. If you do try to add the second stick, it;ll scerw-up on you. let me know if this helped. tallcoolone100@yahoo.com

I guess you should try first putting one ddr at a time.. i mean, you first try one ddr then run your computer and if gets inside your desktop... shut it down then try putting another one.. that makes 2 ddr running in your pc.. if it still doesn't get into your desktop... check your bios settings or try reinstalling your OS... it happened to me twice.. the same problem as yours but of different motherboard and i just tried reinstalling my OS and then it runs.. btw make sure that those to RAMS are connected properly and no other rams except the two ddr.

Hi

is this your motherboard? http://shop.pcmag.com/shop/product_specs/Intel+D915GAG+BLKD915GAGL10+Motherboard/22673983.aspx

if so, it is ok for you to upgrade your memory up to 2gb. btw, just be sure to properly install the rams to the slots.

since youve purchased 2 x 1Gb ddr400 , put on color blue slots.

hope this helps

Looking over at crucial.com it says that your A30 can use PC2700 and PC3200 DDR. Maybe go other there and see if your new ram matches what they sell. I know it's not much but maybe a start.

First of all, if your FSB is set to 200mhz, the system will not support DDR400. "CPU at FSB 200MHz mode, it will NOT support DDR400". The FSB will have to be either 333 or 400mhz in order to utilize DDR400. Only 1GB of DDR400 is supported. As to your rebooting issue, could be because of these incompatibilities and/or you did not properly seat the heatsink/fan on the new CPU, which also means you might not have properly applied thermal compound or might have no applied it at all. All the compatibility information for this motherboard can be found at: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=K7S8XE

Upgrade of RAM

184 pin DDR DIMM is the correct information :) The bus speed of the ram would range from PC 2100 - PC 3200. I assume the Max amount of ram will probably be 2gb though unless your motherboard specifies a higher amount.

Windows XP Pro hangs on reboot after installation

Try removing your AGP card and enabling the onboard graphics again. It is possible your Radeon is a 3.3v, but this board only supports 1.5v cards. Take a look at the manual at ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GERG2/BV2RG2_English.pdf

Presario R4000 does not detect 2GB of memory

Hi PhotoTom,
I check you laptop specification and it really do support uptp 2 GB. So here I'm not sure your 1GB are both of them DDR 333Mhz ?? .If so what I really want you to test here is
1. 1 GB in one slot and turn it on (as you say you can boot wih it) after that move that 1 GB to the other slot and see.
2. try the same with the other 1GB and see that both work fine on both slot or not.
Incase both work fine on both slot then maybe problem with hardware what I want you to do after that is try to check your BIOS version and check on the website that they do have new BIOS version or not ?? Coz this can help incase problem are from BIOS.

Goodluck,takecare.
