Screen is black after sleep/hib, Dell studio XPS, Vista.
Dell Studio XPS running Vista. Maybe 1 time in 3, the screen is blank after sleep or hibernation. Only way round I have found is to power down and restart. Hybrid sleep/hib mode is turned off.

Either CPU or GPU is getting too heated up.. Try to clean and apply thermal paste on your CPU GPU chips.. Usually cpu gets heated up when you've a weak SMPS output.. Check that too with known good one power unit.
You can always call Microsoft and explain your situation. My computer did not do that as well so i called their technical support center and they sent me a new copy of Vista, they didn't include the activation key but i only needed the back up CD.
Very well could be due to the fact your running 64bit Vista. I would try shutting the computer off, connect the U3,then turn on the computer. Sometimes the drives come with software that could be causing the problem also due to the try to install themselves when connected. You could also try booting up in safe mode. Press F5 repeatedly when the computer is booting up and this will take you to a menu that you can choose the safe mode option and try to connect the drive in this mode. You can then load/disable files or software on the drive that may be the cause of the problem. Also try the drive in another computer if possible and if it works try getting the firmware update from the sandisk website. It is possible the drive itself could be bad.
The vista drivers should have worked, since Windows 7 is a cleaned up version of Vista. If you know the manufacture of the mic, you can try searching for drivers on their site. You could try going into the BIOS during startup (usually hit F2 or DELETE) and run the setup defaults which loads all the drivers for the machine. This could be a bug in the RC also. Maybe try reinstalling the RC if the drivers still don't work. I hope this helped solve your problem.
if you bought this from dell, use the restore disks that came with it starting with disk one. you wont be able to save your files bt at least you will have a usable computer. i have an XPS studio 16 and had to do the same thing.
