Depending on your version of windows, I would trying starting in safe mode to see if the computer does boot. If it does, then you want to restart again, go to advanced boot options and select "start windows with last known good configuration." Access advanced boot options following the steps at this link. How far does it get in booting. Do you see the Windows screen with the side scrolling bar before it reboots. During the boot process, start hitting the F8 key once a second until it drops you into a menu where you can select to start in Windows with safe mode. If you cant get that far, hit the DEL key a few times a soon as you boot the computer to try to go into your BIOS. If you can get into either of these, I may be able to help you.

When i turn it on it will not show the start bar or any icons!!! Help please???

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things
working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

hope this helps

I want to reformat my laptop.the model is acer aspire 5673WLMi. how if without the cd?

Once you still have the recovery partition in place then it is quite straight forward. All you have to do is press ALT+F10 at the post screen. The post screen is the first screen you see when you turn your notebook on, i.e the screen that says "Acer". Once you press those 2 keys together the notebook will boot to the recovery partition and allow you to start the recovery process to restore your computer to factory spec.

Hope this helps you...

Acer Aspire 3610 laptop - Windows XP error

on a friend's Windows 98 SE or Windows ME computer, create a floppy "Startup disk". Insert in your pc floppy drive and turn on. If floppy drive was not accessed, then get to BIOS and ensure "Boot from floppy drive" is set prior to "boot from hard drive". Once at first screen, select "Boot with CD-ROM driver". Insert CD-ROM and initiate entire re-install of Windows. Windows may do some self-restarting. At first restart do this: get to BIOS and ensure "Boot from hard drive" is set prior to "boot from floppy drive".

When you turn on the pc keep pressing F8 until it boots into safe mode. when in safe mode look in the list for 'Last Known Good Configuration' and select the line with the up/down arrows on keyboard and press enter. the pc should then reboot back into windows, if not and you still get the flashing cursor, then there is a boot.ini file fault where the sysstem cannot find the c:\ volume to start windows, and you will need to borrow a copy of windows to do a system repair.
